Interested ..... You bet I'm interested im always delighted when someone gets Fumaderm

I know you have made a good decision. I hope it does for you what it has done for me .
It should change your life for the better, aim for clearance that should be possible ..
I have never been clearer in all my adult life since I started Fumaderm some three years ago
Probably a good idea waiting until the festivities are over, although I find it makes no difference what I eat or drink.
I don't know what you are having to pay in Ireland but it would be interesting to know...
You will find if you can manage the side effects you should be successful and will hopefully be worth the expense ( I would ask Caroline if you find the cost prohibitive she can give links to her drug)

I just thought I'd update just in case anyone was interested. I went back to the dermatology clinic last week, where I spoke with a new dermatologist (who, frankly, explained everything far better than the last dermatologist I went to). I wished I had seen her first.

I'm interested and thank you for updating, I always advise people to get a dermatologist they can work with. It's your body and you're in charge, but finding one you can work with goes a long way.

Please don't hesitate to start a new thread about your Fumaderm journey, it's people like you sharing that makes Psoriasis Club what it is.

Hey guys,

I just thought I'd update just in case anyone was interested. I went back to the dermatology clinic last week, where I spoke with a new dermatologist (who, frankly, explained everything far better than the last dermatologist I went to). I wished I had seen her first, since she explained that I can drink alcohol on fumaderm (though she did advise moderation), and that I'll be able to adjust the dosage myself should I find the side effects tough. I now have a prescription for Fumaderm, which I'll begin in January (she recommended me to do so, since the rich food over the holidays might make the possible side effects worse).

While it'll certainly dent my bank account, I'm looking forward to the possibility of having clear (or clearer) skin.

How strange .. It is just good rich food that protects you against the side effects of Fumaderm. I don't really understand.. What does the dermatologist seem to know what we don't?

Thanks caroline I wasn't sure I'm glad you have cleared that up .... I have never had to avoid anything food or drink wise and nothing upsets me or affects my psoriasis.
I think that they are just being careful when starting so advised the wait so if and when the side effects kick in they will not be attributed to the food.
Although more likely the dermatologist is unsure and not taking chances

Mine wanted me to stop when I had my radiotherapy for no other reason than they were unsure

Hey guys, I bought my prescription today. For those who were curious, a box of 40 tablets, at 30mg, comes to €288. I paid €144 as I have a card that means I pay no more than €144 a month on prescription medicine!

I think the dermatologist was being cautious, I don't think she believed it made it difference to be honest!

It's interesting to see the cost of the tablets..... Is what you have for prescription similar to our UK prepayment system where you can have as many drugs as you need for a fixed price ...

Remember. Slowly build up. It takes a long time before it starts working, so if you don't immediately see results, just go on and don't be disappointed.
Take the pill(s) with a bit of yoghurt, right after your meal, or take them during your meal.
Did you have a measurement done of your lymphocytes at least?
You'll get flushes,don't worry it's normal and is a signal that threre is a reaction.

Jim, here you can get what's called a Drug Payment Scheme Card, which basically means that, on a calender monthly basis, you can't be charged more than €144 for prescription medicine if you apply for the card. As far as I'm aware, everyone is entitled to it. We have something called Medical Card, which would cover the cost of all your medical needs. I'm going to apply for one on the basis of the cost of the medication, but I doubt I'll get it, seeing as I work.

Thanks Caroline! I know it's not necessarily quick results, so I'll be patient! I'm hoping that it won't take too long to see some results though :-)
I forgot about the yoghurt part, but I did take it with food this evening (my first tablet, since I'm starting on 1-a-day)
I got tests done back in October, but I was only told everything looked good, not exact measurements I'm afraid. I should have asked, even just for my own knowledge. I'm back in 6 weeks, so I'll ask then!
Flushes I can handle, I'm not worried about them. I'm just hoping that the cramps and ... other stomach problems will be minimum, though if it works, it's a small price to pay for clearer skin.

that's interesting knowing your costs in Ireland over here in the UK we can buy prepayment certificates and they cost

A prescription costs £8.05 per item,
Or a prepayment certificate covers all your prescription drugs
a PPC costs:( prepayment certificate)

£29.10 for 3 months
£104 for 12 months
