Hi, I am new to this page. My name is Stephen I am 34 years old and have had Psoriasis for about 13 years. I started a new treatment last year called Infliximab and it started to work and I was clear, but since January the Psoriasis has come back worse and I don't know what the Doctor will do next.

Hello Stephen Welcome to Psoriasis Club.

Infliximab (Remicade) is one of the first bio treatments they start you on, and it can have very good results. But like you it just stopped working for me after a while, however all is not lost.

As you have started on the bio treatments there are others to try, they will probably try Enbrel or Humira next. You can read all about the bio's here: Biological Treatments For Psoriasis

Jim & Caroline will also mention another treatment, but it may not be available to you yet.

Have a read through the forum there is a good mix of posts from different members, and don't hesitate to just dive in.

Regards.

Fred.

Hi Stephen and Welcome to the forum. I have no experience of your treatment so can't comment, I'm sure you will soon get some replies with some good advice.
We are a small friendly crowd on this site always looking out for each other giving and receiving advice and support from other psoriasis sufferers.
You say your doctor prescribes your medication, is he a dermatologist, and are you due to see him again soon.
They should have a great armoury of treatments to offer if one stops working.
Read up on here in the prescribed treatments and you will see what others are using.
It will give you something to go to your doctor with if you need to change,

Meantime enjoy the company of fellow psoriasis sufferers in the off topic section, there's usually something in there to bring a smile to your face Thumb

Added after reading Fred's post
Yes I am sure my treatment is available on the NHS in most parts of the UK but will probably offer methotrexate first ughhhh

Thank you both for the welcome. I have been on Enbrel and humira before infliximab. I do feel alone, but am glad that I have found this page so I can talk to other people with Psoriasis.

Ask for Stelara then I'm a huge fan as it gave me my life back.

And you're never alone, like Jim said you will find a small but friendly bunch, and if you do venture to the [Group Specific] you will find I'm the sensible one. Rolleyes

Hello Stephen,

Welcome to the board.
I hope you will like the information and the people on it.

Maybe just look around first, you will gain some knowledge on the different treatments there are, Fred already pointed to that.

If you have questions, just put them on the board, and somebody will react.

Have fun !
Caroline

Yes she is a dermatologist but she maternity leave so I am seeing a locum, I am still Infliximab and he is trying to get it every 6 weeks instead of 8 weeks. It has got so bad I have been put on anti-depressants due to being very upset.

I know it's not easy, but try not to let it get you down. Feeling down will make it worse so try to keep positive, and now you found others here to talk with I'm sure you will find it helps.

We all know what you're going through, and we know how upset you can get about a treatment failing. But things have moved on a lot in the past few years and more new treatments are coming forward. Thumb
