Thank you, Jim. I have great fun on this forum. Regarding the toffee, I find it simpler to have my DMF with cola, and the main issue seems to be the indigestion which follows. If I can control it I will have to find other things to winge about. I wonder if I can find Mylanta that tastes like Cointreau?

Cheers,

Bill

Well I love my Vegemite, but the heavily buttered toast I put it on can cause arthritis, so I am at serious risk of being denounced as unAustralian. I took another dose last night with a chaser of antacid. This and a further chaser a few hours later made a big difference to the tummy symptoms. I will try a different antacid for the next dose, and although it contains a bit much sodium for my liking I would still like to compare it.

Having a read of your experiences, Grizzly. What an appalling standard of care. It gives me no motivation to stop self medicating, but it is great to see that you are finally getting effective care.

An update: A blood test taken just under two weeks ago shows normal values, with wbcs at 4.9 and lymphocytes at 1.1. I commenced taking folic acid (~1 mg a day) last week, so that adds to the b group vitamins, zinc, selenium and cysteine. I will get another test in three months or sooner if I get another viral infection. My psoriasis remains unchanged, although I would like to imagine it slowly diminishing. With the cell count normal I will increase my dosage from twice weekly to once every three days. My belief is that if I can completely clear my skin I may have a better chance of maintaining my p and psa at a lower dosage.

Nice Bill those levels look pretty good to me, and there is probably room to increase your dose.

It will be interesting to see if the folic acid makes any difference

You are happy with you intervals between testing, so I wish you luck and a clear skin soon Thumb

Thanks Jim. Folic acid and B12 work together. They can increase the count if it is low but have no effect for normal counts, so the combination could possibly be protective. The testing interval is all that is indicated by the count. Were it at 0.8 I would be testing monthly. Monthly testing where the count has bordered on normal for at least the past eight months would be more about protecting BI's product than my health imo.

Cheers,

Bill

Sounds like a good plan to me. Thank you for keeping this thread updated Bill.

Bill,

New info from my doctor. Talked to him today. My DMF Doctor I mean.
He had new information for me on the subject of enhancing your immune system. It appears that the use of the Bacillus Calmette–Guérin (BCG) vaccine, gives your immune system a boost.

Cheers,
Caroline

Thanks, Caroline. It would be nice if measures could be taken to boost the lymphocyte count. How many patients getting good results have had to cease treatment because of falling lymphocyte counts? I will get another blood test in August and find out whether the current stuff has done anything.

I have ceased using antacid as I was getting a rebound reflux with it. Other than that a mild cold so I will be on a DMF holiday for a little while. Hope you are well.
