Had another blood test on Monday. White cells now at 5.8 and lymphocytes at c.0.75, so I am still a bit below where I'd like to be. I have been supplementing with d3 and using sunscreen, and had I been on a drug holiday I think that I would easily have been above 0.8. I did start getting more stiffness in my back, so I was only able to miss a week. I have been dosing weekly with 1.2 grams. It is tough but works well. I will keep supplementing and covering up, and I will retest in four weeks.

Here is a chocolate cake recipe I have been refining:

melt 250 grams of dark chocolate melts, 250 grams of butter, 375 grams of sugar, one dessert spoon of peanut butter, one tablespoon of instant coffee powder, and 310 mls of water

add to 250 grams sr flour and 50 grams cocoa

mix in two eggs

bake in three baking paper lined loaf tins at 150 C for 40 minutes (it should look a little underdone in the centre, but that is the way to make it fudgy)

cool, wrap and freeze

for the icing per cake, mix and melt 80 grams each of chocolate melts and peanut butter (crunchy of course!)

Cheers,

Bill

Does it have any hidden DMF in it? If not I'll have a slice.  munch

Sounds great Bill. But I can't see it helping me to lose weight. But I'll have a word with my cook and see if she will make some for me  Wink

Oh and your blood count is not too bad but good idea to check again soon and hope the lymphocytes will come up a bit more

A blood test on Monday gave a white cell count of 5.9 with a lymphocyte fraction of 14% or just above 0.8. This moves me back into a grade 1 lymphopaenia and a higher degree of safety. I am avoiding sun as much as possible and have been trialling a 1200 mg weekly dose. While it is effective against p and psa it is hard to take and less effective than an 800 mg twice weekly dose, so I will return to 800 mg dosing and I may even revisit a 600 mg dosing regime. My p and psa are being very well controlled and I am now more interested in investigating the properties of other doses.

While I am still quite annoyed with the lymphopaenia, it has prompted me to try other doses and given me a better insight into the pharmacology of DMF, at least as it applies to me. I will continue with monthly blood tests while my lymphocyte count remains below 1.

Cheers,

Bill

Thanks for your information Bill.
As always it is very interesting to see how carefully and scientifically you approach your personal medication.
Great that you are again more secure now !!

Thanks Bill for another interesting update. It's good to see your lymphocyte count creeping back towards normal. I like the way you are experimenting with your dosing trying to find an optimum dose. To keep you clear and pain free and the blood count acceptable.  Clap

Have you considered trying to reduce the dose as others do for maintenance, or are you similar to me and the disease creeps back if you reduce the dose ?

Thank you, Caroline.

Hi Jim. If it were just the psoriasis that is what I would be doing. 800 mg twice weekly seems to be optimal for controlling my psa. 1200 mg weekly, as well as being hard to stomach, peters off after about five days and does not offer a proportional benefit over 800 mg. 600 mg five times fortnightly might be interesting to try.

Cheers,

Bill
