He came in did a quick look(and I do mean quick), and said yes you have Psoriasis, 77% coverage. Gave me scripts for ointment that takes about 45 minutes with the help of hubby to put on all of the spots as I am just covered with them. Cannot afford the scalp oil he prescribed so I called them and got a " crabby phone nurse" who wants me to keep calling the insurance company to find an alternative they can prescribe. Hey wait, isn't that her job? I am doing some investigating myself. I am a handmade soap maker by trade, so I am putting together a tea tree and pine tar soap this week, and maybe try my hand at a salve. I might as well try to treat myself without a bunch of steroids and junk that cost a hundred dollars a tube. Wish me luck!

Hi again Pam nice to get an update from you what is the ointment you have been given? Is it a steroid ointment ? at last you are in the system perhaps they will monitor you without having to go through "crabby phone nurse" ( oh I do like that term) anymore . Or are things different with your health system.
Over here UK once you get referred you have regular appiontments with the dermatologist and we are always monitored ( you had better move over here
I like the idea of making a soap to treat your scalp why not, give it a go

I tried every stupid oil from Dermocrap to high powered steroids. None of it worked. Go to the grocery store and pick up some T-Gel. If there is a Target near buy you can pick up the generic for half the price. Take about three weeks to work and smells like pooh, but it has been a godsend for me. I still use it even with the ridiculous amount of medication I am on.

As Fred said it's fine updating on here in the introductions, but it would be nice to hear if you have any success with the soap making for your scalp......in a new thread in natural treatments
BTW have you opened up to a friend or family yet, of course you may not need to if you find something that works for you and we are always here to talk too, as we are all the same on here and have psoriasis of one sort or another in common

I started a new thread in natural treatments titled Making Pine tar soap?. Yes I am being very open with family and friends. I was scared to at first but hey, I am covered in this stuff so I can't really hide it now.
The first soap I will be making will be a body soap, not that it could not be used for hair, I am sure it could. I have ordered a bottle of MG217 shampoo and will be giving that a try.
