No offense Caroline, but having a "pissing" contest with your doctor is not an effective strategy. Here in the USA, that means it's time to see a new doctor. Sadly, an appointment for blood work and test is not an appropriate time for diagnosis or treatment options. Your best option is to call and complain about it and see if you can get an emergency appointment.

I can understand that Mataribot it may be that we over here in NL are a bit more direct. But it may not be possible that a nurse is blocking your access to good medication.

I just received a call from a different nurse at the Dr.'s office. Apparently she did relay the info. Apparently she just needed to feel superior to me for some silly reason. I really don't appreciate the added stress at all; but am glad she did her job and told him. The nurse I talked to today said he will most likely be sending me to a dermatologist. I asked them to hold off as my new insurance doesn't start till the 1st. of May.

You should never feel shame for having psoriasis, it's just something going on with your body and not something you have caused. Smile

Hi all! Well after waiting for what has seemed FOREVER I got to see a Dermatologist. He came in did a quick look(and I do mean quick), and said yes you have Psoriasis, 77% coverage. Gave me scripts for ointment that takes about 45 minutes with the help of hubby to put on all of the spots as I am just covered with them. Cannot afford the scalp oil he prescribed so I called them and got a " crabby phone nurse" who wants me to keep calling the insurance company to find an alternative they can prescribe. Hey wait, isn't that her job? I am doing some investigating myself. I am a handmade soap maker by trade, so I am putting together a tea tree and pine tar soap this week, and maybe try my hand at a salve. I might as well try to treat myself without a bunch of steroids and junk that cost a hundred dollars a tube. Wish me luck!

Hello again, please don't hesitate to start a new thread to share your progress. You are welcome to update in this thread, but as it's an introduction thread it may not get picked up by some readers.

As you're a soap maker I think it would be a great idea to try and make your own, at least you understand the basics and you will know what went in it.

I'm not trying to tell you what to use, but Coconut Oil and Soap Nuts could be worth a try, and maybe oats and wheat starch could be worth a play with.

Please do start a thread in Natural Treatments For Psoriasis if you want to share your soap experiments, I'm sure a lot of people would find it worth a go to try their own soap recipe at home.

If you did want to share your final recipe you could post for all to see, or we could look into making your recipe available to members only. Wink

Good luck with your experiment.
