Pharmaceutical companies are known getting their product removed from market (present information about potential harmful side effects) when they are no longer making money.

Governments are known to tax needs and addictions under the disguise of saying it's to prevent something.

Polytar and polytar + are my mainstay shampoos I had not noticed a shortage although I don't buy it very often, that's an interesting article which I have passed on.

And I had no idea that dovobet was so expensive, I hope they pour the massive profits back into research and development.

Hi, I have been relying on Polytar and Polytar+ for some years. I found these products increasingly difficult to find over the past 2 years. I had 4 or 5 months without, and any control I had over flare ups on my scalp was lost. I now buy it over the internet from the Far East.

This concerns me in a few ways. While the packaging is the same, there is no guarantee that the contents are. The cost is high' but still worth it. (However, beware the micro bottles sold at large bottle price!).

My scalp is now more settled while using Polytar, and I am relieved to still be able to get these products.

Hi Paul a big Welcome to the forum and thanks for posting Thumb
On here you will find a very friendly bunch of " characters" we all have at least one thing in common psoriasis.
Re the polytar shampoo you have read what the manufacturers have told me about when they expect to restart production although I won't hold my breath.

There are many posts on here about the various natural treatments and prescribed treatments which you should trawl through as I think we can kiss goodbye to polytar for the foreseeable future, as you say getting it from the Far East ( sorry to any Far East members) is fraught with danger some of them are very good at getting the packaging right, but what's in the bottle nobody knows.

I would look at alternatives, I can't help as my treatment has virtually wiped out my psoriasis for the last 18 months.

When you need a break from the serious side venture into the off topic there members are a bit less serious and let their hair down
I look forward to reading more from you later maybe Thumb

Hi Jim, thanks for the welcome.

One of the reasons why I have joined this forum is because I would like to learn what others have found, as we can all benefit from a pooling of information.

I have had Psoriasis for most of my life, and it has got worse and improved periodically, as it does with most people. However, I have recently been diagnosed with PsA, which has changed how I feel about P, and how I will deal with the other more recent symptoms that I am faced with.

Through the forum I hope to find other treatments which will reduce my need for Polytar, as well as other ways of improving my quality of life in general.

In my short time on the forum I have been very impressed with the professional approach and wide range of topics. I look forward to learning so much more useful information.

As you will notice there are no ads or live links on here, which was my main reason for joining, also there is nobody trying to sell you a cure.
Fred who runs this site doesn't have many Rules but he won't stand anyone trying to self promote.
I'm sure you will get some good advice on here.
Fred will no doubt tell you how he deals with PSA
There is a great wealth of easily accessible information on here. And the site is safe from scams and cyber bullies .
Look forward to hearing more from you
Jim
