Tiredness and psoriasis

I have a few cases of get out of bed and fall flat on my face, but it is been a year. My hands have had the worst pain, but my pain in my hip is constant.

Sounds awful, I'm afraid I can only offer sympathy as Fred is the Stelara expert
are you able to function normally, I mean are you able to work and get around ,or is the pain so bad
Are you suffering all the time or do you get some respite

Just avoid using my hands whenever possible. Twisting hurts the most, just make my wife do that. Hip always hurts, but NSAIDs help with that an, but do a number ob my blood pressure. Thanks to our government, getting long term pain medication isn't happening. But to be honest,I adjusted to this life and get around well. The days I don't, there is PTO for that. I spent enough time crying about my disease,I need to move on

I'm not locked up now, only the odd twinge when it's damp thanks to my dermatologist.

I was super fit at Caroline's age apart from the odd bit of PsA, then one day in my early 50s it just shut me down big time.

So watch out anyone with psoriasis.

Not an expert Jim, what I put is only my personal experience of using it from May 2010.

I spent enough time crying about my disease,I need to move on.

I do suffer with tiredness and have done for years. I also find my feet, back and hands are stiff and sore. I have very small lumps on my fingers and toes and my nails have slight pits in them. like arthritis sufferers. G.p. sent for X-ray and says it is not psoriatic arthritis, just my age! I keep telling them psoriatic arthritis does not show up on X-rays but to no avail. I get up an hour earlier than I need to in the mornings as I can't straighten up and it takes awhile of moving around to do so. They accept that the pain I'm in is high and prescribe tramadol and paracetamol but not that it is linked to the psoriasis.
I expect they're right but I have always wondered.

You say your GP has ruled out PSA. But you are not sure, have you seen a dermatologist as they will have a better idea.
You say your GP says it's your age ( I'm to much of a gent to ask ) but if you are of a certain age it may be worth asking to try Methotrexate ugh!!! Or Fumaderm which I am on now and is available on the NHS it has a remarkable effect and although I just have plain old psoriasis others who will reply have suffered as you do and found relief

I would tell your GP he doesn't know his bum from his elbow. An X-ray will not show Psoriatic Arthritis. Like Jim said do you see a dermatologist? If not demand a referral from your GP to go and see one (you have the right to do this) and it's your body he is playing around with. It's going to do you know good what so ever keep taking pain killers especially Tramadol

Get to see a Dermatologist, they will know almost instantly if it's Psoriatic Arthritis or not, and can work with you to find something that will help. Probably like Jim said they will start you on Methotrexate, but there are lot's of other options.

The sooner you get a proper diagnoses the better life will be for you.

I'm just about to finish course of phototherapy (which has been fab!) so before they discharge me I shall ask to speak to the consultant. I feel really daft, that I just took g.p. word for it. I keep saying there has to be a reason for it and am told no, it is this or that, then it isn't this or that. Latest with my feet is they say it is what joggers get or I'm wearing the wrong shoes, yet it all started around the first outbreak 7/8 years ago.
As for my age Jim, i lie about it all the time, have been going backwards since I reached 49 and that's a few years ago! Someone once told me that actually I need to start saying I'm older than I am, that way people will say, "really, you don't look it"! However I shall remain under 50 as long as I can get away with it!

Hi Sandra,
Apart from a dermatologist, who aims at the skin, also a reumatologist shall have a view on PsA, as it is often classified close to rheumatic arthritis, though is something quite different.
At least your GP is completely off track, in that way I agree with the guys.

On the other part, MTX, try to avoid it!! It is pure poison, that is also used with chemotherapy.
Furthermore research shows that it does not help for PsA, I will check out where this research is.
As Jim and I both have PsA and we both use a form of dimethylfumarates and we both have very good results, it makes sense to go this direction.
