Hello everyone!

I was wondering if anyone knows if working out alot makes psoriasis worse?
I try exercise and everytime I do my psoriasis tend to flare up and become all red, but then later it just goes back to normal psoriasis and not that very red. But I was just wondering if it worsens the condition or is it just in my head?

They say exercise is good for psoriasis, but I think that is more down to advising one to keep their weight down. Whistle

I find sweat can make psoriasis go red, or maybe when your working out your clothes or skin are rubbing together.

However I'm a lazy sod so I wouldn't know for sure. Big Grin If Caroline sees this she may be able to help as she works out a lot and often goes Spinning. Oh I feel tired now. Sleep

I think it's more sweating and clothing that make it worse. I run and dance and the only time I have a problem is when my skin is dried & cracked.

When the salty sweat hit that then it's agony.... Angry

I practise karate so it puts some stress to the body and we do sweat alot and we wear somewhat rough cotton clothes.
We have a summer break from it now so I will see if it gets better!

My situation may be different Ikone.
I have PsA and the one thing that my physiotherapist said to me was: "Keep on moving!" It is much better for the joints if you use them a lot and regularly.
Although I also did lots of running previously, I changed to spinning as this has the advantage of being less heavy for my joints than running. While still the condition stays ok.
I also do dancing btw.
With a sport like karate I can imagine that the pressure on joins is quite high and explosive, but anyway does not matter if you do not have PsA.

I never found that PsA has a lowering effect on my condition. In the office where I work I am the second best in shape. While most of my colleagues are around my age.

As the psoriasis on my skin has completely vanished, I do not have any problem with sweating. :-).
