Hello Richard Welcome to Psoriasis Club

Sorry no one was about when you posted, I was asleep myself. Sleep

We have another new member posting about Guttate she has just been diagnosed, her thread is here: my story so far with psoriasis feel free to join in, you may be able to help each other.

I'm not much help when it comes to Guttate, but I'm always willing to listen to a good old grumble. I probably don't have the answers you want, but it helps to share.  So you grumble as much as you like on here if it helps.

Regards.

Fred.

Hi Richard, again, sorry no-one was available to answer your post.
I also have a problem with my Psoriasis going through a particularly bad phase at the moment, but the hospital department always seem to be on a "go slow".
Are you actuallt being treated at the moment by a Dermatologist?
I have a hospital appointment next Tuesday, and I am demanding to be treated with something more long term.
It is very depressing when the situation takes you over, I have had Psoriasis now for almost 20 years and this year has been, by far, the worst.
I would demand that action be taken by your healthcare professional's, and insist that something needs to be done, as it is causing you much discomfort and affecting your day to day living.
Very good luck with it and let us know how you get on.

Best Regards
Micky

Thanks guys, it helps to know there is someone to talk to, I was referred two years ago for uv treatment but they wouldnt do it as I am at high risk for getting skin cancer. They basicly said keep using the steroid cream. It calmed down loads for ages then last week it came back. Theres basicly a patch every cm all over me. Gp said it will go in time and thats all, looked in the mirror when I got back from work and it just seems to be getting worse.

There's usually more around, when people post in this section, but I think there a few holidays going on at the moment.

Richard it sounds like time to get a second opinion to me. A lot has moved on in the past couple of years, and your GP is talking rubbish in my opinion. Like Micky said demand to see a dermatologist, it was the best move he ever made. And I think a lot of others on here will agree. (Maybe not Caroline though) Rolleyes

I have to agree. You need to demandaction sometimes. It's obviously got to a point where you are at your wits end and there are other options as Fred said..

In the meantime I would suggest wheat or chamomile baths to soothe the itch.. I'm also a big fan of organic coconut oil to moisturise and help stop that rough, flaky texture. Oh, and get some sun when you can. Just short bursts (maybe 10 mins) a few times a day are beneficial.

Also (easier said than done I know) but some form of relaxation. I believe stress puts a hell of a strain on our minds and bodies and can exacerbate psoriasis.

Just my two pence worth. Big Grin

I really hope you get some relief soon Richard and, in the meantime, feel free to have a whinge. We really do understand.

And indeed I am the dissonant again in this discussion. Smile.
Psoriasis is an immune problem, so basically a dermatologist has nothing to do with it, a reumatologist might be better.
There is more under the sun than hits the eye, but you can read my posts.

Of course it is really stressy for you to suffer so much under your psoriasis. Unstressing will help, I am on vacation right now and have much less problems.

Wish you strength in dealing with your problems.

Caroline.

Hi Richard,

I suffer from a different kind of P but had it nearly 2/3rds of my life, some years are worse than others. Def agree you need another opinion, waiting for it go won't happen while its bothering you and staying unstressed is something I haven't worked out yet.

But this year I reached the end of my tether and have a great dermatologist now. I got more done via my GP when I demanded a referal and didn't take no for an answer. I'm determined to find a way to live with my P and not let it take over anymore.

Ps - these guys are fab for advice or just to listen!
