I'm pretty sure this will sound like a total overreaction but I've taken my Ierston does of methotrexate and not know myself after less HM a week. The day I took it I was manic, day after tearful and tonight I've just screamed at my cat for no reason to the point here she is hiding. I am disgusted ar myself and don't really know where all that rage came from.

Is this normal?

If it is I'd rather be as I was before regardless of how flakey i am. It's not like me to be like this, not even when my periods are due. I'm not rational.

Hello Amy No it's not normal but I wouldn't think it's the methotrexate. Psoriasis can piss us all off at times and we can tend to take it out on people or animals that are our friends.

Methotrexate like all drugs that can help psoriasis is not a natural thing we want to do, we just want to live a normal life without psoriasis. If you think Methotrexate is causing it you should discuss it with your GP.

But to be honest I would say it's just psoriasis throwing it's shit around like it can, and what you have to do is try not to let it control your life. Go gently to your cat and talk to it in a calm voice and get it on your lap. Animals are much better than people, so keep your cat on your side.

Oh and I'm on your side too if that helps. Smile

Thanks Fred!

I guess it all got too much all of a sudden! Hoping Penny (cat) will forgive me - going upstairs armed with treats!

Wave hi Amy,

Sounds to me things may of just built up inside and you've just had an outburst!!
I don't think methotrexate can alter your mood as such but it can make you feel more tired and sick which in turn will of course affect your mood!

I get angry or just burst into tears from time to time for what seem no big reason....just dwelling on my skin!

I'm glad to hear Penny has forgiven you, animals are amazing and can sometimes help relief stress by having a few quiet minutes of cuddles.

Hopefully the methotrexate works for you and your skin will clear and your mood will really boost Thumb

(Hopefully we might get some kind of a spring soon to which always makes me feel better)

Smile

So far my first week on methotrexate has been vile - hot, dry mouth, feeling sick, shattered, eyes are super sensitive - I think I'd rather be itchy!

I also think a small and very silly part of me hoped for a wonder cure! Even typing that sounds ridiculous! Lol

Will see how this week goes and seeing dermatologist after Easter.

Penny has forgiven me - curled up next to me fast asleep - least she smells of raspberries which i think is an improvement! although Sheldon (other cat) keeps sniffing her suspiciously!

What dose are you on do you mind me asking? And how much folic acid and how often do you take it?

Often with meds it takes a while to adjust

But once your skin starts to clear you may feel different about the meds Smile

Are you a Big Bang fan by any chance Thumb

Hi Amy,

No, I don't think it's normal what you are experiencing. But I certainly can imagine your emotions on starting with the MTX. I was myself hesitant also, and finally could not keep up with it.
The only thing you can do is relax. Take a cup of tea, read something not to concentrating, make a walk in the sun (if it shines at your side of Europe). For the time being try to put your emotions next to you, maybe write them down on a piece of paper or on your iPad. If written down, you can leave them, you won't have to fear that you forget them, so you can put them in a box, like all those guys do, and stop thinking about it for a while.

Later on you can just feel how your body reacts to the MTX, that will take some time.

Don't worry to overreact to us, we know what you are going through.

Keep up !!! Kiss
Caroline

And also do not worry about the forum cat.... It's just not visible on the iPad.

Only a small dose I think, 5mg (its 2 tablets) week and from memory it's the same of folic acid.

Struggling to get blood tests sorted which I think is adding to my stress levels. Hospital say ,y GP can do it they say the hospital should fund it - the joys of NHS!

Yup I'm a Big Bang fan - cant think what gave it away(!) if I had my own way I'd have more and defiantly have a Raj! But our house is only so big and were about to move - pretty sure that wont be helping stress either! Lol
