Unused Accounts

This affects members accounts that have never been used.

By default accounts not activated within 24 Hrs are deleted, but we still have some accounts that have been activated yet no posts or further log-ins have been made. This is a ploy sometimes used by spammers, so from now on I will be deleting any accounts with zero posts that have not logged-in in the past twelve months.

How will this affect me?

• Members with at least one post: Your account will remain open and you don't need to do anything.
  
• Members who have logged-in at least once in the past twelve months: Your account will remain open and you don't need to do anything.
  
• Members with zero posts who have not logged-in in the past twelve months: Your account will be deleted.
  

Accounts that are deleted will have to go through the registration process again to get full access and privileges of membership*.

If you have any questions please ask.

*Registered members have more privileges than guests, including member only boards, and extra facilities such as search, notifications, personal notepad, PM system, etc, but you need to log on to use them.

REMINDER!

Following a complaint last month from a member that I had deleted their account. This is just to remind you there will be 8 accounts deleted from the database tomorrow.

If you are one of them I'm sorry, but I can't see the point in sending you an Email to tell you your account will be deleted if you never log-in to the forum as you obviously don't need it.

This thread has been here a year now in Announcements and all is explained in the above posts, there is always a reminder in the monthly newsletter that is sent out to those that subscribe Newsletter Subscription

So to clarify what accounts are deleted from the database:
Any account OVER 12 months since last log-in that has made ZERO posts WILL be deleted.

*If you have made at least 1 post your account will stay live and you don't need to do anything.

*If you have logged-in with your username and password in the past 12 months your account will stay live and you don't need to do anything, (but remember if it's been 10 months since your last log-in you will only have 2 months left).

I don't know how to make it any clearer than that, and I can't spend all my time going through every account to check who has logged-in when and sending each one an Email to remind them (anyway if you haven't visited for 12 months it would be an invasion of your privacy to contact you, and I can do without another rude Email)

And just before I go. If you are the Ex member that sent me the Email about your account being deleted last month and you're reading this, I have replied to you and explained that you are welcome to rejoin us should you wish either with the same username or a different one.

I cant be fairer than that.

Problem is if they haven't been on they won't know unless you email them

I see no point in emailing them if they haven't logged-in as they are obviously not interested, I only post it as a warning in case they are reading without logging-in and it saves me getting abuse (see post #3) There is also a reminder in the newsletter, so I'm happy they have had a warning.

Numbers mean nothing if they are not here and have never given any input.

Yep 19 that have made zero posts and have not logged-in for 12 months, the rest are safe.
