Welcome Abz! Your wife is very lucky to have such a supporting husband. There are many options to try and what works for one doesn't always work for another but you'll find lots of helpful info here.
You mention your wife has arthritis, do you mean psoriatic arthritis? (I do not have psoriatic arthritis but I do have orthopedic arthritis.) There are others here who can comment on this more than I, but I wouldn't want to delay treatment with arthritis to help prevent as much damage as possible to the joints. Since you plan on a little one in the future (my bet is on the baby, wives usually win
) then if it were me I think I'd want to be as clear as possible before starting that journey as treatments (even dieting) may have to stop or change during pregnancy.
