The pharmaceutical companies are working at targeting smaller areas of our blood to give less side effects and faster clearance. I suppose this means they are narrowing the search down to certain T cells and targeting them.
In the future it may be possible to genetically modify these cells to give lifelong clearance, I doubt I will see it but I think the way research is progressing it is just a matter of time.
The sooner the better so we can throw aside some of the dangerous creams and drugs we take
That's what I think ....but I may be way out ....time will tell
The thing I find difficult is that the old oral treatments especially methotrexate (which we all know the dangers of) have been around for years, yet are still given. Also the amount of people using Dovobet long term when it's designed to be used for 4 weeks only is worrying.
I'm trying to remain unbiased but to be honest the future is looking Bio to me.
I'm sure you are right in the immediate future. It is good to read of the advances being made with the bios, there doesn't seem to be much other research into the idea of gene modification, understandably they are concentrating that research on life threatening diseases, but I'm sure in time it will filter down to auto immune diseases but until then, you are right Bios are the way forward ...... although I love the drug I'm on I can't see it being a front runner in the treatment of the disease, for the problems people encounter with side effects
