I've already got the T-shirt on this one Jim. I'm also on tablets for Gout (Allopurinol) which I've had for at least 15 years..... But I'm pleased to say that the gout is totally controlled by the medication. A couple of years back I did an experiment and stopped taking the Allopurinol for a few days - and sure enough back came the symptoms in my toes.
But whether there is a link between P and gout? Dunno. Having said that my current Dermatologist (I was assigned a new one recently - hence why I'm back on Fumaderm) nodded sagely and said he wasn't surprised when I reeled off Allopurinol when he asked me to list my current meds. So maybe he believes there could be a correlation.
The balance of course is to ensure the Allopurinol doseage is sufficient to precisely balance out my average volume of red wine intake.
