Honestly I don't know....... I need to call and let the dermatologist know what he said but I think I'll wait until at least after lunch and think about it a bit.
What a shame they don't talk to each other Kat it would be so much simpler than you being pig in the middle
I did think about that Jim. Usually most doctors will simply talk to the others but I think this came more from my telling the dermatologist when she asked me if I wanted to try Consentyx or Tremfya that I would like to talk it over with my rheumatologist and general practitioner before deciding. When I call her office, I will tell her nurse that if she is opposed to trying Taltz that she needs to talk to my rheumatologist directly to work it out. For some reason I feel like Taltz isn't the answer and I have no clue why I feel that way.
Taltz and Consentyx are two products of the same class. They are both IL-17 inhibitors, therefore they are the first choice for Psoriatic Arthritis.
But people differ. We all are different and will react differently. Therefore e.g. DMF, my stuff, won’t work for everyone, just because we are so different.
So it might be that the Taltz works better for you, it is a possible try and I think better then the Ilumya and Skyrizi, though they might work better for your Psoriasis.
I am with Fred in this story, you are not into the final working zone of Cosentyx yet. I think it is valuable to fully try it out.
In Europe a large investigation has started, called BioMap, What they are trying to map is all the different types of people and their different types of Psoriasis. They are going to measure all possible markers that are involved and will match that data into a typing of person and Psoriasis. 50.000 patients will be involved.
The aim is to find and validate the markers and the effect of the substances that cause the Psoriasis, and thus the effect of the medication. All is aimed to be able to categorise a patient in such a way, that a drop of blood will tell what kind of Psoriasis you have and what medication will work best. So you will get the right medication instantly after the diagnoses.
The project will run 5 to 10 years.
