Hello everyone. I am hosting Easter dinner for my extended family, so I am delaying my start of the plan until after Easter dinner. In the meantime I have been doing more research and testing food options.
I love Siggi's yogurt, which is a grass fed variety. Usually I get the fruit added ones, but as this diet is low on sugar I will have to opt for the plain, no sugar added one. I just tried it and got the idea to add lemon with a little Stevia (1/8 tsp) to make my own lemon yogurt, and I have to say I was delightfully surprised at how awesome it tasted! I also love lime, so I plan on testing it out with lime, especially key lime. Lime and lemon are very, very low sugar fruits, so it is okay to use lemon and lime as flavor enhancers during the diet.
I also tried bone broth concoctions for my cleanse. Please note that bone broth is not the same as regular chicken of beef broth, it needs to have the word "bone" in it, so as to get the nutrients from the bones that are beneficial for the gut. Regular broth has lots of additives like SUGAR! and other things which are not allowed on the diet. Bone broth by itself is rather bland, but when you add vegetables to it and let it simmer, the result is a lovely soup. My favorite is 2 cups organic chicken bone broth, 1/2 small onion (sliced thin), 1 whole clove of garlic, 5 cauliflower florets (halved), black pepper, pink Himalayan salt and herbes de provence or rosemary. I let is simmer for 30-45 minutes, throw out the garlic clove and the resultant soup is very flavorful. I tried the same basic recipe with broccoli, but did not find it qppetizing, so I will stick with the cauliflower bone broth concoction for my 2-3 day cleanse.
Additionally, I have further read up on the diet, and some say to hold off on adding nuts and seeds to the diet as they could have mold, which would be detrimental to the diet. They say to hold off on them until your symptoms have subsided, then to add them slowly. So, I will omit nuts and seeds from my stage 1 part of the diet.
