If things became worse for you, would you repeat another round and would it be for as long or would there be a maintenance type treatment?
I wish you continued success and will follow your updates.
Thanks for the compliment Kat, I must say it was not easy make an overview over a whole year, but my journal is in fact the log of all that happened.
I don't know if things will get worse, that is unpredictable as the treatment is still working, and it can take a very long time until it reaches its final endstate. I have spoken to other patients who report also slow recovery, so it still can increase and become better
If I would get worse instead, then I will talk to my doc again on what is the best way to go. I am prepared to do another round of 12.
I am also prepared to do another round, if I would reach no further progress in the coming months.
There is not something as a maintenance type of this treatment. When your immune system has learnt to deal with it, the problems should be gone or limited to the level reached.
Of course, in the rest of my life, i will pick up other bacteria, like everyone does. It may be that at a certain point it is wise to redo the treatment again. As it protects you from bacterial infections, just like an influenza injection protects for the influenza virus.
It is kind of an unsure future as there are no statistics yet. But for now I am very happy to be medication free.
