My name is Kristen, I'm in my early 20's and I was diagnosed with psoriasis ever since I was a junior in high school. Throughout the years I have been using all sorts of products whether it be OTC or from the dermatologist. What sucks is that every single time I find a product that seems to work, my body will start adjusting to it and It Wil no longer work. My psoriasis started on my scalp and has now spread to my back, arms (on my tattoos), middle my chest, and is mostly now on my face.
I was just wondering what are YOUR products/remedies you use to help or if you have any tips for my psoriasis. (Like if going into the ocean really does help your skin) I know everyone's body is different!
Any feedback helps
Hi Kristen and to the club, you should find it a great place to come for advice and support if the disease is getting you down. We are a growing group of sufferers who learn from each other's experiences of controlling the disease , and sometimes we just come to moan about it. The members here are all friendly and supportive we have a great wealth of knowledge built up from personal experience. Plus We have the latest news about studies of the disease and the latest drugs and trials results.
So have a good browse through the available threads and ask as many questions as you like
You ask about what works for us all, to that you will get many different answers for me I have been through all the creams and lotions with varying degrees of success, I guess I got most success with uv treatment from the hospital after a six week course I would get 3or4 months clear .... you ask about swimming in the ocean, I'm not sure how far from the ocean you are, but I get there as much as I can in the summer I find the mix of sun and sea do wonders for psoriasis ( but not everyone is the same)
I am now on an oral treatment that has kept me clear almost 5 years now but not available in the USA yet
I would add save your money and don't buy over the counter remedies they tend to just be moisturisers sold at inflated prices. Get a good quality virgin coconut oil as a moisturiser it should give you relief . Get to see a good dermatologist and you should be able to manage the disease.
Finally ( from me) come here and talk about it .........it is a form of therapy speaking with others that understand
