Fumaderm and hormone injections

Great results, Jim. The cancer especially. I would hope that your specialist sees the sense in keeping you on Fumaderm: A great result without side effects (How hard is that to find?). Really good lymphocyte count too. What is your secret?

Thanks Bill.....I hope in July the rheumatologist will keep me on it, although she wants me on methotrexate .....no chance of that happening

Indeed I cannot imagine why she would want that. There is totally no motive for that. So indeed don't let that happen.

Because she is a rheumatologist mine done the same here. And when I refused she said there is nothing else she can do for me. Rheumatologists are not happy that Dermatology get to prescribe to patients with psoriatic arthritis, and they find it very upsetting that we can help pain in our bones with a psoriasis treatment.  

I don't see my rheumatologist any more especially after she told me that Cosentyx will never help psoriatic arthritis. Ha she obviously doesn't read the reports about Cosentyx on Psoriasis Club.

Why can't they work in harmony as they all have big workloads, why not think together what might help ....

I think if she insists I will just tell her to forget it and just deal with the "psoriasis" and when I need I will manage with pain management tablets perhaps...I'm not at that point yet ....

They tried it here Jim. I went for a joint consultation with a rheumatologist and dermatologist but they sent a trainee dermatologist and a head rheumatologist only keen on methotrexate. So I went back to my Head Dermatologist where I'm happy.

Jim don't take this the wrong way, but if you do have the onset of psoriatic arthritis at your age you are lucky and it takes a while before it gets to the stage of ruining your life. So by the time it gets very bad you will be a lot older and not so active and it will be easier to live with.

I would say forget about psoriatic arthritis and just keep going with Fumaderm. It works for you, you're happy with the results and your bones haven't stopped you going out and enjoying your retirement. So carry on as you are, enjoy what you have now and worry if/when it gets unbearable.

I won't take it the wrong way I'm thinking along those lines anyway, you are right if I were younger I might be more worried but I'm in my twilight years   and if I get 10 more healthy ones it will be a bonus and after that I'll be dribbling in the corner of a care home anyway..
So I'll take your advice and just see what develops, unless she offers me something worthwhile in July

Think you are right Fred, indeed when I visited the rheumatologist he also prescribed the MTX.
Only when I met tho other specialized doctor there was a change to something very much better.

Depending on what's said in July I may give up on rheumatology until I'm really bad

Last week had my latest blood test and have posted the results in my journal, but as I had a PM saying there's nowhere to respond on my closed journal so I will make a point of posting some of the information here

Last week had my monthly Fumaderm blood test and got the results of my June test and my levels are still good,  ... Still on 4 Fumaderm  tablets a day

No real change from last month  


June blood levels

Neutrophils 4.99
Lymphocytes 1.27 a bit lower than last month but still well within the normal range


Been having problems with Mrs Jims anaemia since Christmas....and now these seem to be resolved, we are keeping our fingers crossed
