I am about to start consentyx and I am a 37 year old male.  We are planning to have our second child and wondering if this affects a man in conceiving or the baby

Hi Pinge and  Welcome to the site. I can understand your concern but I'm afraid I don't know the answer. But we have several members on Cosentyx, one of those might know the answer
You could check this post Cosentyx (secukinumab)   It also has the web address of Cosentyx which has a lot of information ...but when I checked I couldn't find anything about men wanting to father children. But there is a section on pregnant women

I hope you find an answer in the meantime if you put Cosentyx in the search facility it may throw up some help

I don't know of any problems with Men in regards to trying for a child with Cosentyx or any of the Bio's.

*But none of us here are professionals, so I would suggest you check with your dermatologist to be sure.

Welcome to Psoriasis Club by the way.  Wave

Thank you for the welcome, my dermatologist prescribed it because she said it was fine but she also said it was fine for a female to take which the site says not too just wondering if anyone has actually been through it with no issues with their baby

Unfortunately it's still a new kid on the block and we only have a few members using it so personal experiences will be unlikely from those with a baby.

I'm afraid I don't know the answer, but maybe you can delay the cosentyx for a bit?

All I have found regarding pregnancy on the Cosentyx on their website was this

Quote:
There are no adequate and well controlled trials of COSENTYX in pregnant women. Developmental toxicity studies conducted with monkeys found no evidence of harm to the fetus due to secukinumab. COSENTYX should be used during pregnancy only if the potential benefit justifies the potential risk to the fetus.

Basically, if you can do without during your pregnancy, do that, avoid immunno suppressing medication. I think this is more or less obvious, it cannot be good for your unborn child.
At I least I would stop everything.
The only thing one would continue having medication, is when this medication is essential to survive. Like heart medications or things like epilepsy or cancer.
