Good evening all!

The time has finally come to decide on treatment options as I am seeing the dermatologist tomorrow afternoon. After considering MTX, I can't see it being for me. I am going to try and push Fumaderm. So far, sun beds and Exorex coal tar are doing well, however, I seem to notice a new patch nearly every day big or small. I shall keep you all posted on my final option!

Thanks again for the support!

You are welcome, please do come back and update.

I will however point out that Fumaderm is not available in all parts of the UK.

I know I'm a great believer in Fumaderm and I hope you can get it ....But Shane you may not get the option of Fumaderm so be prepared to give methotrexate a chance rather than come away with nothing...there are other options as well such as acetretin,

Good luck and I'm glad you have a plan in your mind, I hope you have a good conversation with the dermatologist tomorrow.
I look forward to hearing how you get on

Thank you all once again for your replies.

I have just got back from the dermatologist. He gave me the choice of Methotrexate or UV treatment. I'm not quite ready to take the plunge of methotrexate as I am currently keeping it under control with sun beds and coal tar, and I'm not ready to give up alcohol quite yet. After my two holidays I will consider. UV treatment I also declined for now as I am constantly up and down the country and just couldn't guarantee 3 appointments a week.

So.

I have rebooked for the 2nd of August after hopefully lots of sun and will give the MTX a go then. Luckily now I'm in the system it's an open ended appointment.

I will see how it goes and keep visiting this fabulous website!

Thanks!

Oh, and as Jim suggested, Fumaderm isn't available at Derby Hospital. So I would have to get an appointment at Nottingham somehow. I will revisit this idea in a few months.

Enjoy your summer Shane and don't worry about Fumaderm it's great for me and one day I'm sure we will all read what a wonder drug the dermatologists have passed over in favour of more expensive treatments

While you are happy with your current regime and don't overdo the sun bed ( said the man who has just spent the afternoon getting the sun on his skin with shirt off ) but do be careful as you don't want to damage your skin

Enjoy having a drink and join us in off topic for a virtual drink some time here's the link [Group Specific]

Thank you for the kind words, it means a lot to us to know our members are happy.

Good luck, if you are happy without any treatment I would stay that way as long as possible.

Do keep us updated.

Enjoy your holidays!!! This will also give you time to see how it goes and decide what you want to do. Whatever you decide, good luck with your treatment. Smile

Hello Shane,

It's great to see another newbie on here, and I can promise you that all you will ever get on here is good advice.  I'm sorry but I am one of the P sufferers that really doesn't rate MTX at all.  I had taken it for several years and even had a liver biopsy, but to be honest it never really worked.

But its also true that everyone is different.

Good luck with your next appointment.

Fifity
