Happy New Year 2016

I would like to wish all our members and guests a very happy and healthy New Year. We are now entering the 6th year of Psoriasis Club and it's because of those of you that have taken the time to log-in and make a few posts in the past year what has encouraged me to purchase an additional 2 years hosting for the website on top of what we already have.

This means that Psoriasis Club now has enough funding in place to secure a permanent home till August 2018.

It also means as I have always promised:
  • There will never be any advertising.
  • There will never be any sponsorship deals.
  • There will never be any recruitment drives.
  • There will never be any requests for donations.

This makes Psoriasis Club is the only truly independent psoriasis website out there. Yes I make the final decisions, but I'm always willing to listen to members feedback and I will never let money be the motivation.

We now have over 600 active members (*unused accounts are deleted) almost 60,000 posts in nearly 3,000 threads. (*not all posts are visible to guests or some groups) we act swiftly on Spammers, Scammers, Troll's and Cyberbullies who are shown the door without question.

I would like to thank our members who help maintain the friendly atmosphere that we have built up. There is always someone willing to try and help out if they can and new member are always given a warm welcome. Our members also keep an eye on the place and many will soon let me know if there are any problems that need looking at.

I also want to thank the three Forum Helpers Caroline, Jim, and Kat who are there should any member need some help on using the forum or would just like someone to help them settle in.

Thank you all for making Psoriasis club a safe and friendly place for others with psoriasis.

Happy New Year

Fred.

Edit: Since making this post I'm pleased to announce we now have funding till 2020. See Here: Funding for Psoriasis Club

Wow and thank you Fred for your generosity it's great to hear that you have funded the site for another 2 years until August 2018.

I know you have developed a unique site here and I'm sure there's nothing else like it on the Internet. Being privately funded and proudly independent, with a healthy friendly membership, and vibrant and fresh all the time.

You have amassed an enormous amount of information on the disease and have generously made it available to anyone who wants to view the health boards.
You have also built up a large off topic section for members only and that is also well attended

I will always be grateful for this site as it has seen me through some difficult times, now that you have renewed for 2 extra years gives the site stability ( which I always thought we had )

Your no nonsense policies sometimes seem harsh but I know if you were lax with the rules the place would become just another psoriasis forum.

We are lucky not to have sponsors, advertising of any description and as you say spammers can't get past the first hurdle...

I feel privelledged to have been entrusted with forum helper status, and will do my best to keep threads on track and keep it friendly
I'm usually close by if any member needs help I respond as soon as I can, but I do also have a life so sometimes it may just take a while to respond

You're welcome Jim. I had been mulling over what to do for the future and as you know I've been going through a few things this last couple of years that made me question if I wanted to keep it going.

But in the end I decided to get on with life and after looking back at the vast amount of information we have here and the wide range of members that help keep it a friendly place to be, I decided to secure our future and Psoriasis Club members and guests now have the guarantee that we are here to stay.

Here's to the future. Long May We Run.

Just read through this again Fred and was wondering where you thought the club might be in the next 2 years ?
And I'm sure it will always be a happy place for sufferers to come to lift their spirits ... And I'm sure the membership will grow and grow. Despite Google keeping it low in the searches for psoriasis, people are finding their way here by whatever means
I'm looking forward to a bright future buddy

Well as far as I'm concerned it will be much the same as it is now. I'm always willing to listen to suggestions, but I personally like the way it is at the moment and can't see anything that needs changing.

Google will always keep us low as we are independent. We don't promote other websites, I will never pay them to bump us up the ratings, we don't even have a paypal donate button. Google are only interested in Money and like to see all the companies they are bed with showing up on websites. But it will never happen here, so we rely purely on people finding our genuine content.

As for member numbers they are not important to me. I would rather have the few genuine ones we have than to have a load of rubbish members. The members we are getting these days since me putting more anti spam measures in place are good members so they are obviously taking the time to find us.

As you know I remove unused accounts and we currently have 640 active member. But if you look at our newest member you will see their number is 1408. So that means since we opened I have thrown out or closed 768 accounts, this proves number are not important to me.

Yep it will be a bright future Jim and we are here to stay.

Take my advice; I don't use it anyway.
