1/10 th gram gradations are fine for measuring cysteine, but you would need 1/100 th gram gradations for measuring doses of DMF. Raw DMF is extremely cheap (< 1% the cost of Fumaderm), but you may be dealing with different pharmacokinetics which may not suit you. Cysteine is comparatively simpler and safer, and hopefully it will deliver for you.

Cheers,

Bill

We'll soon see Bill. It wont be long now

I'm curious about the 1/100 g scales, why is that ?  They are also cheap, so if i ever go down the DMF route, i can buy some

Basically the dosage. If I am measuring 800 mg I can do so to the nearest 10 mg. Much better when you consider that there is 120 mg of DMF in a Fumaderm tablet. 1/10 scales would consequently be accurate to +/- a fumaderm tablet: not good.

Yes i see your point Bill.  The scales i bought are fine for Cysteine measuring but are just not accurate enough for DMF powder.

I'll deal with the scales if and when i need them.. might not have to !

Right then .. the powdered Cysteine has not arrived yet, and neither have the scales, but the Cysteine caps have, so i'm going to start on them tonight before bed

Bill, if you're reading,  do you recommend going straight to 2 grams per day ?  If so i will take 2 x 500mg tonight and 2 x 500mg in the morning and carry on with that regime.

If you think maybe i should kick off with a lower dose, what would you advise ?

I am not a doctor, Bassman, so I dont advise. Think of the forum as a place of shared experiences, not as a place in which to be directed by others. For myself I have found 1 gram twice daily effective. I have had no issues with taking l-cysteine and the dosage is well below a toxic level, so I dont see the need for a staggered introduction of the supplement. Is the dosage the most effective for me? I dont know. Twice daily is important as I have missed a few doses and noticed a bit of redness return which resolved when a further dose was taken. My p and psa have been remarkably inactive since I stopped taking DMF a bit over four weeks ago, so I am in no hurry to alter anything.

Cheers,

Bill

Started last night, 2 x 500mg and this morning, same again.  If there are any favourable results at some point, i might try cutting down the Fuma.  I wont know till i try. It maybe that the Cysteine only works because i'm on 6 Fuma a day, but I can live with that too, but i'd rather cut that down if possible

The powder arrived today with the scales, but since the capsules arrived first, i will continue on those till they've run out, and then start on the powder
