A member contacted me to suggest a new thread about Skin Camouflage. There are a few threads where people mention they have problems with showing their skin in public, and as a result they are losing confidence. So I’m going to make this a sticky thread and you can add your tips to it.

Here are some I posted on another thread.

If you’re not sure about exposing your skin, use long sleeved shirts with the arms rolled up, you can always pull them down quick. Same applies to trouser legs.

If you have long hair tie it back with a scrunchie, when someone comes nearby let your hair down. For short hair wear a sun hat to cover your scalp and take it off when no one’s around.

Please add your tips to this thread.

Changing Faces is a charity in the UK for people and families whose lives are affected by conditions, marks or scars that alter their appearance. They are also the official home of skin camouflage. The programme was established in 1975 by the Red Cross and since then it has helped tens of thousands of people to grow in confidence and independence.

Their trained volunteers can teach people how to self-apply specialist cover creams. The creams are fully water-proof and are available on prescription. All the volunteers receive a comprehensive five-day training course, updated annually, and are provided with a full range of camouflage creams and relevant equipment. They are good at putting people at ease and have a good understanding of the differing physical and emotional needs of service users.

If you have scalp psoriasis wear light coloured tops, the flakes won't show Thumb

Same can be said for bedding and furniture colours!

For some reason we have lots of black furniture which is a nightmare!

Probably you like black furniture. Smile

Over here it's all light colors which isn't even necessary.

That's a very good point Hanna we do take a huge amount of interest in our psoriasis, and we can usually spot another person with psoriasis. But most of us probably wouldn't give a second glance to other people we pass in the street who may have some other form of skin complaint.

I have dark brown hair and scalp psoriasis, one of the big ways I try to disguise my psoriasis is combing my hair with a metal head lice comb in the morning if my psoriasis is flared to remove as many flakes as I can. Hope this works for others Smile

I cannot wear my hair up or pulled back. It is very thin after radiation and chemo for cancer so I have to wear it down. It is almost impossible to hide the scalp psoriasis. I sprinkle special brown colored fibers called Toppix on my head where the thin patches are and they stay in place with some sort of magic extra stiff hairspray which, of course, makes my scalp itch.

I can't do anything small. Go big or go home, as they say!

So I am assuming then wearing concealer won't aggravate psoriasis? Obviously each person is different, but as a general rule.
On the internet I can't find much if anything that wearing makeup aggravates it.
