This is a site that is full of info on all benefits/SSP in fact many things related to ATOS etc and is well worth looking at if you have any problems with any kind of benefits at all.

I am new to this board, wish I had found something like this years ago.  Am about to start Acitretin, when the consultant decides to send me an appointment.  Anyway, mine is ok ish.  

However, I am an HR Manager so to answer your question about SSP.  SSP means Statutory Sick Pay and is paid by the Government.  Companies do not have to pay you, it depends on their Sickness Absence policy coupled with how long you have worked there usually.  You can get SSP for up to 28 weeks, although it is reasonable to assume that you may not still have your job if you haven't been there long.  SSP amount per week is £87.55.

Hi this is true ( by the way welcome Soosie nice to have your contribution on the forum ) yes how SSP works if I am right is the employer pays the staff member and then reclaims it from the government
So BRIGHTEYES will get it paid by her employer if they still employ her. Is that correct

Hi Soosie and all.
I'm still waiting for my employee handbook to arrive so I can check out the Sickness Absence policy.
My GP gave me a call back (I asked for a home visit as I am now immobile). He had obviously read my notes as he is giving me a 6 week sick note ( backdated) and more as and when needed without the need to see me personally.
So, whatever happens, I know I have his backing in the long term.
