Hi everyone I’m new to this forum,  I am 70 years old old and it looks like  I am suffering from  some form of psoriasis, not been officially diagnosed yet, have to wain until early November to see a dermatologist,  have   Red  blotches on my forehead face neck backs of, also  itching to my scalp,  backs of hands forearms neck shoulders and back small round red scales very itchy, this all came on  over the last 3 months, not sure of the trigger maybe because I am on beta blockers or too much time in the sun, so that’s me, would welcome any suggestions to  stop the itching (driving me insane). Started using ice packs ? Thanks for looking.

I wouldn't have thought it was beta blockers or the sun personally, but no ice packs won't help.

Till you see your dermatologist get yourself some Coconut Oil and have read in this section to get an idea of treatments Prescribed Treatments For Psoriasis

Welcome to Psoriasisclub.

I once hear from someone who indeed had the trigger from medication, don’t know if it was a beta blocker.
Red scaly blotches are a sign yes, itching too.
Reason that diagnoses is a little difficult is that the biomarkers that prove that it is psoriasis are not easy to measure, so diagnoses is mostly on the expertise of the dermatologist.

Agreed with Fred, that coconut oil is an easy and cheap way to fight itchiness. There are lots and lots of creams, often vaseline based that help agains scaling but not so much for itch.

There may be someone on the forum that says that he/she is the sensible one, better not give to much weight to that expression…

More members will come around and will introduce themselves. Together we know a lot about the disease and will help whenever we can, furthermore we have a lively Off Topic section.
