You could mention the name TL, just no links.

It took ages for the nhs to get around to a treatment that worked the first time - this time I’m going to ask for it - extra corporeal shockwave therapy I think it was though this was over ten years ago but the idea is it heats up and aggravates the area to stimulate healing and given it was available on the nhs, it’s not quack medicine the only trouble is getting them to do it.

As for shoes I have recently bought little black neoprene things which give you a bit of a gel pad under your heel, they do up with Velcro over the foot and are slim enough to go into most shoes. I have found them pretty good, and they are cheap - alternatively any squishy soft heeled shoe or trainer works.

Thank you so much, I've not heard about that treatment before.

If you wouldn't mind do you have the actual brand or name of the neoprene "wrap" so that I can look for something similar here?

Well I’m not sure about the brand because they came from a large well known online marketplace (trying not to break advertising rules here  Big Grin )

Ah thanks, I shall get an oar and go paddling up the river.  Smile

Depending on the soil I often go barefoot or wear sandals.

For normal shoes I avoid all shoes that have footbeds that are someplaces higher or thicker, that always leads to pain.
So I am going for no footbed, flat slightly soft inner fabric, but not too soft.

I think it’s different for everyone, when I saw a podiatrist about my Achilles tendinitis (still got it) he encouraged me to get flat, hard shoes without bounce. Then I was to put in a heel wedge he gave me.
I did, I spent good money and they were terrible. The wedge wouldn’t stay put, the hard doles hurt when I walked, and I found the effect of shortening the Achilles for a few hours just made it burn all the more when I took them off.
I can’t get along with heels, even low ones, either.

Ooo.. yes… they advised me that trick also, the wedges, … it appeared to be useless, as I have had the Achilles problems too. Same conclusion as you have made.
Finally you will have to find what works for you.
