A bit premature as it has to go through getting approval and such but thought I'd start the thread here. Let you know when I know. Tongue

So, first part of my journey is getting insurance approval and seeing what my costs (if any) will be. Different insurance than when I was on biologics before so a bit different process is involved.

Yes and no.  I have Medicare Advantage so it's Medicare and yet it's through a commercial insurance company.  When on Medicare (or in some cases I've read where it says if eligible for Medicare) you can't get the programs offered so it gets a bit interesting on getting assistance for high cost drugs. Funny how once you get old and need more medicines you are on insurance that restricts funding.  I understand the government not letting money incentives (coupons, programs, etc) dictate the sale of prescriptions and treatment.  BUT... how the heck do they expect retired people to get what they need!  Thankfully the doctor's office has a person just for that reason... well not medicare specifically but to help all biologic patients to find an affordable way if possible.  We shall see.

AbbVie called me today. I was impressed with their representative.

Looks like it might get approved but not definite yet. Easier process that I expected however even easier than they told me it would be which is why I am a bit sceptical. I'll know something for certain in the next week or two.

The AbbVie folks have been helpful for me getting Humira with private insurance.  I'm glad they're sounding helpful to you and hope they have ways around the high costs for Medicare and/or other government funded insurances (like VA).  Thanks so much for sharing your experiences with this process.

I'm crossing my fingers for you, too!   Heart
