The prefilled syringe is the best I think, didn't like the pens at all, I thought that they were uncomfortable to use compared to the syringe.

Sad you're having the same dread as I had taking methotrexate and I only had the tablets and when on ten of the little buggers I found it hard to get them past my clenched teeth I hated it so much
I hope you can get moved to Stelara and I'm sure it wouldn't cause any problems

Sorry you're still experiencing issues with MTX
Are you still taking folic acid? You could try Stelara or switch the MTX for another medication such as leflunomide, azathioprine

I have a poor memory it’s true and I haven’t documented this on here as it all came before I joined - but my memory is I had an issue with nausea on methotrexate, however it was the folic acid rather than the mtx that was making me nauseous so they reduced the days I had to take it or the dose and it improved a lot.
If you look up nausea and folic acid, it’s a common side effect..

The Remicade did that, and I had anaphylaxis reactions twice while getting it in the hospital long ago. Is that true for anyone as I tried Humira twice, with a few years in between..

I also use folic acid, for rebuilding some vitamines, but I don’t experience any nausea. While when I was on MTX, I felt my whole body resisting in a kind of a stress reaction.

The Humira pen, once or twice, had jumped away from my leg while trying to inject (I must have hit scar tissue?), and the medication was wasted as it spilled so much. I switched to the pre-filled syringe, then. A pre-filled MTX syringe would be easier than filling. I didn't know you could get the pre-filled syringe until hearing about it from you. Thank you.

That's the right word. It's also a strange combination--increased appetite while feeling waves of nausea and increased headache. I have gained weight, too. An online search from reputable medical sites shows that weight gain has been reported, especially in women over 60, using MTX. Since I took the six tablets after dinner last night, I have felt crummy. I tell myself this is my last dose. No more. On an upcoming trip, don't even take the tablets with me. Just take the ointments, which I haven't needed. Then I remember how miserable the patches were, the itching, pain, and even bleeding in my skates and I strengthen my resolve to not give up. I was trying to hold out until my dermatologist returns from maternity leave. My next appointment is for August 2. There is another dermatologist covering for her, so I do have the opportunity for care between now and then. I'm whining and complaining because it's just so uncomfortable right now. The Methotrexate can lower a quality of daily life. But then, so can an active psoriasis. Grrrrrrrrrrrr! Thanks for listening.

Given that I had the experience with Remicade, the doc thinks it could also happen if I am off Humira for a while and then try resuming it. But then Remicade had a mouse purine, and Humira doesn't.

Caroline, I don't remember how long you were on MTX. Did it feel as though the whole body stress reaction intensified the longer you were on it? |
