Still it is amazing.
Since 1985 in Germany and shortly thereafter in the Netherlands, patients have been successfully treated with DMF.... but the French experts ..... have never heard of it.

I asked a few years ago about Fumaderm and my dermatologist said she knew all about it, I also asked later about Skilarence but she said it and any DMF probably would never be used in France. I and she didn't know why they wouldn't be using DMF, but it's a government health department issue and not the experts (dermatologists) that treat the French psoriasis patients.

I'm sure they have their reasons, but we may never know. All I know is that I'm reasonably happy with the French protocol for treating psoriasis. It's not perfect and people still have to jump through hoops and they still push poison Methotrexate, but my experience is that they do asses each patient well and will soon move you on if needed. Maybe by not having DMF it gives the French patient one less hoop tp jump through.

Oh, it is easy why they won’t use it. It is effective and extremely cheap. Ask Bill. No one can earn something with it, a bio is much more lucrative. But never mind. We will see in future.

"I'm sure they have their reasons, but we may never know."
For a safe and effective therapy you should know the reasons for it being excluded, Fred. It's called transparency. The range of approved therapies should be determined by a committee of dermatologists, not by the occult machinations of bureaucrats.

It remains the cheapest and a very well working medication, with very low risk, a lot of extra's, but in the incarnation of Skilarence an obvious blunder on the intestine cramps area.

I'll not get into a debate about the use of DMF in France as it's going a bit off topic. France have made their decision and this thread is intended to give people an insight of how their system works. It is about what is available and not about what is not or should be. |
