hi,
Had another shot this morning, so no irregularities in the bloodwork. Felt tired this afternoon, now its ok. Coming down of the flue, getting better, still a bit tired. Flue number 2 this winter! Had one in October too. I wonder if it's related to the Stelera, making me more susceptible to flue? Also during the flue and the onset of it I noticed the lesions getting thicker. Slightly, there is still lots of improvement. Personally I think its because of the flue, which is stressful for the body. Anyone else experienced this or thoughts? ArteMie

I used to and still do hold off on the shot if I have a bad cold or flu, but with Stelara that is difficult as it's 12 weeks between shots. There has been a lot of bad flu around lately, so you could just be unlucky. But it's worth keeping a not to see if it happens near your shot or not for future reference. Get well soon.

Was it ok to get your second shot while coming off the flu? I ask because I received my first injection today and was told if I get so much as a cold to call my doctor and also I couldn't get the injection when sick. The whole lowering the immunity system thing is scary to me, but I figure everyone here on biologics seems to be fairing well.
Hoping it works well for you, I'm about a month behind you on Stelara so anything positive from you will give me hope. Take care of yourself!

tnx Kat, for your reply and info. I was told it was ok, when recuperating from flue. Nobody told me I couldn't have it when sick.... So maybe your doctors are just being more strict. I truly hope you do well quickly on it and that it may last a long time.
@Fred; no it really was the flue twice. sore throat, tickly throat, sneezing my remaining braincell out, the works, for a good 4 days and then the afterwake of being tired, recuperating. That said, I took todays shot too late; I thought 3 months but it's supposed to be 12 weeks. anyway, a little delay can't do any harm. Still leaves this question; anybody notice when sick that the P gets worse when slowly getting better with Stelera, but not completely there yet? Artemie

I'm 3 months newly on stelera. It was really pushed home about it suppressing the immune system and to go to the doctor for any infection. It isn't to be messed with. I was also told that raw eggs and raw fish is off the menu.

In order to be careful with Stelara, is this not also described in the accompanying flyer.? You might want to introduce yourself in the Introductions section. We are always interested in extra personal information on treatments. Enjoy yourself on Psoriasisclub. Caroline

I was told that anything that held bugs such as pate,as you said raw eggs etc and to be very careful with things like bean sprouts which can contain salmonella. I was also told when I was on MTX to avoid anything that could contain bugs as with all these kind of treatments your immune system is very low so anything nasty can really be a big problem. |
