OK I thought of several titles for this thread so I hope someone a) reads it and b) replies.

I have been suffering for well over 30 years and only about 2 years or so ago was started on MTX and have been largely free of P since then. OK I have a little on my butt however I don't flash that around.

Now the summer is here it feels great not thinking about it on my elbows and knees. I can wear a t-shirt and shorts if I want to.

I even go swimming.

Psoriasis stole many many years from me and I suffered not only from psoriasis but sweltering in long sleeves in the summer.

How is everyone elses life with P.

Mine was horrible for far to long and it stole many probably happy times when I was self concious about things.

Well I read it .................. You knew I would.  Big Grin

Yes psoriasis robbed me of a lot of my life, I always thought people were looking at me and/or judging me by the way I looked. But it was when I woke up to the fact that psoriasis can hit anyone at anytime and you should never judge a book by it's cover that I realised those that were judging me are not worth knowing.

I'm lucky today that thanks to my treatment I'm almost clear, but I know it could and probably will be back with a vengeance one day. However time and age  has taught me that I don't really give a toss on what people think about me. I'm me so accept me or sod off, it's the person not the way they look that counts. And a reminder to all is that you could be next so be very careful on how you judge others.

Psoriasis today is more acceptable than it was when I first got it and I hope that people like us talking about it on the internet has helped. We accept people today for their persona rather than what they look like and that is a good thing, but in my time a person with psoriasis was looked on as a leper or a person dirty or someone that is contagious. It was hard to live and cope with, but today the future is bright and we can all talk about it and touch each other.

But sorry Pingu I aint getting my gun out in the sun whilst you're around.  Snigger

*I better log off before someone complains about my behaviour in this thread as I do tend to say things without thinking, oh well that's me.

Night Night.

Sleep

I read it as well
Psoriasis and life? Well I have by all accounts been fairly lucky compared to a lot of people. My Ps has been comparatively mild,  only effecting my elbows and lower legs, so it's normally well hidden. As for body image I have never really given a monkeys what I look like Ps wise, as I have only had it in these latter years the general public don't seem to mind/ notice. I have only had one instance while in Mexico was I given one of those 'you really aren't going to get in this pool with me' looks. So they got   one of my ' damn right I am' withering looks. I try as hard as I can not to let it affect my life

The arthritis is the bother as it has widespread effects, but when I see grown men carrying on like teenagers about a few spots.......well, I'd better keep my trap shut. Fred, you are way too pessimistic! Look how much secukinumab has exceeded your expectations, and if it ever fails you there will likely be a host of clones to take its place.

Cheers

Yes Pingu I read it as well ....I am 70 now and got my first taste of psoriasis at 17, not a good time while all the hormones were raging, the things I wanted to do were so curtailed, dating had to be timed to summer time when I could be clear for a while ...like fred ( only I'm a wee bit older )it robbed me of the best years of my life .... it was not accepted as well in those times. I would keep myself covered no matter how hot and uncomfortable I was,  and shorts and tee shirts were a nono.Eary summer I grabbed as much sun as I could to get clear an as soon as I was clear I kept sunning myself to try to get clearance to last into the Autum months ...it was always awkward even with friends dropping scales everywhere in their houses .....I struggled through most of my adult life hiding it ....it totally changed my life when I got my current treatment, it totally changed my life for the better ...no more hiding myself, my self confidence grew and then I found this site and determined to help others suffering with psoriasis  as I had for so many years, until I found this site I knew others had psoriasis....but had never met anybody with it,  so felt isolated ..times and  attitudes and treatments of the disease have changed so much in recent years ...I hope nobody has to suffer for as long as I did without an effective treatment ...

Yes there will today always be something Bill, but as you know psoriasis can come back at anytime. And I think that is realism not pessimism.  Tongue

Is it all about self confidence and image. Is that how psoriasis affects us besides the soreness and as mentioned the arthritis? I know I am more confident and generally happier.

I guess all the new choices of treatments are helping massively.

Although I was never severe it did get me down a lot especially when "shedding". I felt like a bloody snake at times.
