Hello everybody,

I was wondering why the psorinovo/fumaderm medication progression is like it is. And especially the gap from 3 x 30 mg each day, 1x 120 mg and than the gap to 2 x 120 mg at once. (Is the question clear?)

Is the answer habituation/acceptance of the body? If you remember did you (your body) noticed the difference?

With kind regards, Nico.

The steady build up Nico is to allow your body to adjust to the substance in your system, it can be tough to cope with which is why there is a slow build up the initial fumaderm are 30mg building week by week to 90mg then progress to the main tablets which are 120mg again building up weekly as shown it the leaflet here Fumaderm leaflet to a maximum of six tablets a day ( psorinovo I believe you can go higher with the dose )

For me that was 6 years ago and I don't remember the side effects getting worse... they were pretty bad from the start but my dermatologist said they would get easier as my body got used to it and they did get better
I now just have flushes regularly but they are not unpleasant but when your face goes red it can be embarrassing.
I don't know if that helps  Thumb

Thanks Jim,

But do you know why you can go from 30 mg progressions to a 2 x 120 mg medication at once? Than you make steps of 120 mg. Is your body then used to it already?

Nico.

Maybe double post. My post disappeared suddenly.

I dont know if the question is clear. I just wondered how it came into existence why you first make steps of 30 mg and later on 120 mg steps?

Thanks, Nico

It's all explained in the fumaderm leaflet that I gave a link to in my last post. With fumaderm you don't step up to 2 tablets that would be a big step up

I don't know about psorinovo dosing regimes maybe someone else will know

Oops, that is long ago...
I thought dosing was:
1 x 30
2 x 30
3 x 30
1 x 120
2 x 120
3 x 120
4 x 120
5 x 120
6 x 120
7 x 120
8 x 120
9 x 120
.
.
.
etc.

Hi Nico,

I started with 3*240 mg daily, and yes, it was no fun, but it did reduce my disease activity quickly. With the benefit of hindsight I would have started with a 200 mg twice weekly dose, increasing the dosage weekly provided it was being tolerated. Incremental buildup has the obvious advantage of allowing you to build up your tolerance of the drug, but as there is variance in the therapeutic dosage for individuals, it will also allow your dermatologist to determine this value for you. If your disease responds well, the dosage can often be reduced (maintenance dose). There is one member on this forum maintaining his clearance with 120 mg of DMF taken every third day.

Good luck with your treatment.

Yes Nico Bill does very well considering  DMF is not available as a treatment  in Australia you can read Bills  journey here Bill's pure dimethylfumarate thread

And the member he mentions on a very low maintenance dose is Mateychuck see here RE: Fumaderm continued success
