Background:
Fumaric acid esters (FAEs) are recommended in international guidelines for induction and long-term treatment of adults with moderate-to-severe chronic plaque psoriasis. The fixed combination Fumaderm® is approved in Germany, with dimethyl fumarate (DMF) being the main active ingredient.

Objectives:
To assess the efficacy and safety of a new formulation of DMF (LAS41008), compared with placebo and Fumaderm®, in adults with moderate-to-severe chronic plaque psoriasis.

Methods:

The coprimary end points were the percentage of patients achieving ≥ 75% improvement in Psoriasis Area and Severity Index (PASI 75) and the percentage achieving a score of ‘clear’ or ‘almost clear’ in the Physician's Global Assessment (PGA) at week 16.

Results:
In total, 671 patients were randomized and included in the full analysis set (n = 267, LAS41008; n = 273, Fumaderm®; n = 131, placebo). At week 16, 37·5% of patients treated with LAS41008 achieved PASI 75, compared with 15·3% receiving placebo (superiority for LAS41008 vs. placebo: P < 0·001) and 40·3% receiving Fumaderm® (noninferiority for LAS41008 vs. Fumaderm®: P < 0·001). Overall, 33% of patients treated with LAS41008 were ‘clear’ or ‘almost clear’ in the PGA at week 16, compared with 13·0% receiving placebo (P < 0·0001; LAS41008 superiority vs. placebo) and 37·4% receiving Fumaderm®. Most treatment-related adverse events were classed as ‘mild’ in severity.

Conclusions:
LAS41008 (DMF) is effective in the treatment of adults with moderate-to-severe chronic plaque psoriasis.

We have many members using all types of treatments, but this is news (I put it here so trust me it is) and the DMF Gang are going to be happy. Rightly so too and if you were a member you would find out how passionate they are about their treatment, but you're not a member so ................................. oh well. it's your loss they're a great bunch as are all of our members.

Usually under this line you would expect to see something but it's a secret between members.  

Yes those of us on DMF (in whatever form)  are passionate about it for a very good reason. It's a little known treatment that seems to have been passed over, despite its successful use in Germany and the Netherlands for over 30 years.
I've been lucky enough to be on it  and for me and many others,  it is a life changing drug with very few side effects ( once your body accepts it) I have had five years clear on Fumaderm and I'm desperate to stay on it and love to read any positive press about it .
I have a journal on here which chronicles the last few years of my journey. But you have to be a member with a few posts to be able to read it

LAS41008 is a development of Almirall, a spanish pharmacist .... In the Netherlands this is seen as the coming competitor of Psorinovo, at least that are the rumours. It is said that this also has a slow release principle, just like Psorinovo and Tecfidera. But that still is not sure, we will have to wait for the market release. If internationally released it may be able to kick out fumaderm and also Psorinovo. We'll see........

Used in exactly the same fashion, so it is more of the same. How unimaginative!
