Hi svp,

Welcome to Psoriasisclub.
I see that the boys have made you a warm welcome. Smile

Yes, such a diagnose is shocking and it takes some time to get even with that. But all that time we will be here for you, with reflections and advice. There is quite some knowledge available over here and know how on the reactions of dermatologists.
There is one lucky thing, more and more medication is getting available for controlling psoriasis, in that sense, although you have a road to go, there is light at the horizon.

I agree with the guys. Don't hide yourself. Build a scenario/story for yourself on how you can tell your condition to people. Get some statistics and make it an easy tellable story. Being able to explain easily, without having to build the story on the go, will make you more confident about yourself.

Good luck and hope to see you many times over here.

Dear Caroline
Thank you so much for your kindest reply...
I really got shocked and still shocked, but I had to talk to my boss and told him what happened to me, he immediately suggested to ease my work load and allowed to work from home more often etc, and i would need some time away from work to visit doctors more often then i ever had before.
I am waiting to meet dermatologist to understand the condition and get some treatment to ease it - for now i look very much awful and scary and ugly even for my self, and my X-Mas vacation is under the big question mark - i cannot appear on the beach in my current look (legs and arms/hands - just a disaster:(((
I am so thankful for such for such a warm welcome by the members, it helps me to breathe, but i need some time to accept my skin condition and continue to move on...
Thank you again, Caroline, i will post again after visiting dermatologist.
PS Sorry for any grammar mistakes - English in not my mother-tongue:(

I'm sure Caroline will reply in the morning when she wakes it is very late this side of the Atlantic and most are sleeping soundly

Of course it's a lot to take in having psoriasis ...you may well be lucky and be able control it with your first treatment ...

I will wish you goodnight and hope you can come to terms with the disease ....I wish I had somewhere like this to come when I first got it

I'm pleased you found us ....your english is very good if it's not your first language ( English is not Carolines first language either as she's from Holland )
Good night  Thumb

Welcome to the club.
It can be a bit of a shock to suddenly find your self with P but there are many very new treatments now . Never be afraid to be different , don't let it get you down as many things are.much worse. It's really good on here as all the inmates are in the same boat so any questions will be answered by people who know what it's like to have the same problem. Just have a good look around and ask away. Good luck and all the best. Dave

Hi, nice to meet you! Sorry psoriasis has come as a shock, it can be hard to accept but you do get used to the idea in the end.
I hope you can overcome your fears of people seeing it, mine is all over my arms and legs and I just wear what I want, I have given up caring what people think. I don't think they are really looking as much as we feel they are. If you get the chance and feel brave enough you should try exposing it to a bit of sun as it might help to clear your skin up.
It's great that your boss is being kind, hopefully you can get things under control soon.

Hi Svp,

Turnedlight (that is not her real name)  is very right. Do expose it to the sun, if possible in this time of year in Canada of course, Vitamine D generated by the sun is often very good.

We will be delighted if you report back on what the dermatologist has said. As said before, we have entered a time where the disease can be controlled. The trick is to find what is the best treatment for you. And over here there is much experience in all kinds of treatments.

Myself I am very lucky (!), well of course not really lucky Doh, but my form of psoriasis is expressing in my joints, only marginally on my skin and than mainly under my hair.

Don't mind your English, indeed it is very good, as Jim says and he is British, the forum has accepted me also and my native language is Dutch. Je pense que votre langue est Français?
Anyway, don't let them ask you to start counting in French... Rolleyes   (Over here we like a bit of teasing and fun, it enlightens  a bit of our common situation).

Caroline

Yes all are welcome, we just ask that the posts are in English and respectful to others. But no one needs to worry about their spelling or grammar as no one will pull you up for it. If they do, let me know because my native tongue is English and I'm rubbish at spelling and grammar. We're all equal here and I'm sure no one will bother about they way another person talks, just like we don't bother about how they look.

But like Caroline said, don't let Jim get you teaching him to count in French.  NoNo
