Back down to 7 and got another 16 weeks prescription of Stelara.

Just a quick update to this thread.

Had my appointment yesterday with my dermatologist and all is well, have been given a prescription for another two shots. Still sticking with one shot every 8 weeks for now, though she did say she was wondering if we could somehow work on 65mg shot and go back to 12 weeks. The problem with that is the shots come in 45mg or 90mg, so it would be difficult to get the exact amount.

So we are sticking with 45mg for now and looking into it for my next appointment in Feb. If anyone has had more than 45mg but less than 90mg could you please let me know how it was done.

I don't understand.
It is an injection yes?
pour 90 cc in cup, take an injection needle and pull up 65 cc.
That is injection 1.
Remains 25 cc.
After 12 weeks, pour 45 cc to the 25 cc, you get 70 cc.
pull up 65 cc.
Get rid of the remaining 5 cc.

I don't understand - why does your dermatologist want to switch you to 12 weeks - cost? I know there is an increase risk of cancer associated with higher shot frequency, but if your blood work is fine...

I wish you could just empty those prefilled shots, but the prefilled syringe projects the contents and they may spoil.

Ah... of course, they are biologicals..

@Caroline We did think of that but the risk of spoil or contamination was to high.

@Mataribot No it's not the cost issue as they are happy to give me 90mg, it's just that they are not keen on going away from the recommendations from Stelara which states 12 weeks.

Stelara say 45mg up to 100 Kg and 90mg over 100 kg, I'm 103 Kg so we tried 90mg but it was just to much for me and made me feel like a zomibe for a few weeks. I should get my weight down, but struggle with that one

So the theory is, if we could try 65mg every 12 weeks it would be in keeping with the recommendations of the time scale and would help with future studies.

For my part I'm going to have another go at getting my weight down, and they are going to talk with Stelara to see what we can come up with for my next appointment in February.

Update Time:

Just got back from my Dermatologist and have been given another two prescriptions of 45mg every two months, so we are still sticking to the plan at the moment as all is going well.

She has received a letter from the neurology department who are keeping her up to date on my progress with the scans concerning the nodule they found, which is nice to know that they communicate with each other and once again I can't thank the French health care system enough.

Next appointment in 4 months unless the neurologist says different, I have an appointment with them in a couple of weeks to get all the results of the scans. But they are both still saying they don't think there is any link with the nodule and the use of Stelara or psoriasis/psoriatic arthritis.

My Psoriasis Score had gone up to 10 the other week but that was down to me getting wound up over the scans, it's now back down to 6. Bloods are all ok so all in all a good result.

Spring is on the way, should be signing for the house at last in a couple of weeks, and will soon have the results of all the scans and tests. So it must be time for another little dance in this thread.

Great news, just got my blood results and the Eosinophils are at their lowest ever and are now within the average. Ever since being on Stelara they have always been on the high side above the average.

My report always says they should be below 700 but they are always around the 800-1000 mark, at my last blood test two months ago they had gone down to their lowest of 618 but my dermatologist said although it was good news we shouldn't read to much into it as it's the first time it's been below the 700.

So she is going to be as pleased as me about showing a result of 591 this time.
