well i've not been on for a while and oh boy what a journey i've had was told i had P originally by one of my local gp's but because of nhs cuts, didn't give me anything on prescription and sent me away to try other forms of treatment (diet change etc etc). anyway that didn't work so i went to see another gp, who decided he thought i had a fungal infection not P!, tried several creas and potions, nothing worked. so today i decided to see a different doctor, new to the practise so i thought why not, after an examination he confirmed yes it's definately P and sent me away with a hefty perscription dovonex ointmement, dovbet gel and diprosone lotion for the various different areas and 2 of each item, which is unusual for my doctors. so lets hope this starts to clear up some of these areas and i can get things under control.

Hi again Kev, it sounds as if your medical practice needs a kick up the rear for messing you about. At least they have now given you something that should help, were you given any advice as to how long to use it for

I'm not sure how much coverage you have, but do take care using it, even if it works, I feel you should ask your doctors to refer you to a dermatologist for a proper assessment of your needs,

I wish you very good luck and look forward to following your journey , if you have any questions don't hesitate to ask

It may well help Kev, but it is a treatment you are only supposed to use for a short time, I know from experience the skin  damage steroid creams can cause after prolonged use.

Hopefully you will get some relief with the creams, but looking back over the earlier posts of yours, you have been messed about and have quite a lot of coverage, uv treatment is probably a good idea, that should also give temporary relief.. But at least to get the uv treatment you will be referred to the hospital and the sooner you get under their care the better for you?
Good luck  Thumb

I always say to people most GP's don't have enough knowledge about psoriasis and as a result unfortunately some treat you the way you were treated. At least now you sound like you have found one who is better suited to treating people with psoriasis.

The creams are a starting point and can work for a while, but like Jim said you should be careful with steroid creams and they rarely keep it at bay for long. You can read more about Dovobet here: Dovobet And Dovonex (What's the difference ?)

Also the reason he mentioned photo therapy is because he has to follow a protocol of. Creams > Light > Pills > Injections.
