I'm just wondering what shampoos and treatments that all you guys use. I'm having a nightmare at the minute with mine it's the first place my psoriasis has flared after coming off cyclosporine :( the shampoo the dermo has given me had just caused it to irritate and flake way more than it previously has. Didn't know if you guys can recommend anything? I've booked an earlier appointment with the dermo to try and get something

A question often asked, and often gets various answers and I'm sure others will comment. But for now if you try the search button above for "Scalp" or "Shampoo" it will throw out all sorts of answers.

From me I would say give Coconut Oil a try, rub loads of it in wrap your head in cling film for a few hours or preferably overnight and wash out with warm water. *Tip using a shower cap helps keep the cling film in place.

There are topological steriods that can be used. One is called dermasmooth or something that is mixture of oils and low dose steriods.

Ooooo might give that a try, I have coconut oil in the house used it for my arms and legs

I used to use polytar shampoo, but I understand it's no longer available, others speak of  Tgel shampoo as its coal tar based and may well work for you ...
I also think the coconut oil method that Fred mentions is well with a try .
I have also got some Clobex shampoo that was prescribed to me at the end of last year which did nothing for my psoriasis at all

I used to have bad scalp psoriasis, one flare up caused about 40% of my hair to fall out (it's grown back now )

My derma prescribed Sebco, which is a Coconut Oil Compound with a coal tar (about 12%). It's very greasy and makes you smell like a newly tarmacked road (sexy), but I've found it very effective. I often leave it on overnight when I can (with a shower cap, or as mentioned, clingfilm), and wash it out the next day with a concentrate shampoo like Ceanel.

I've also found using sulphate free shampoos helpful. The Palmer's Coconut Oil Shampoo is good.

Hi CraftyCrow and thanks for adding to the thread. I noticed you have been a member for a while now so thanks for your contribution. I will speak to my dermatologist next time I see him as if I get any scales coming back it is usually the scalp.

Thanks I'm seeing my dermo next week so I'll give it a mention. Thanks so much for the suggestions any things worth a go at the minute

I hope when you see him that he will give something as good as the cyclosporine was for you, but without the throat problems ... Perhaps even Fumaderm... Although unlikely as it's not approved here for PsA although it would work for both
Maybe acetretin that's another that many use on here . Or if you get the chance one of the biological drugs

I like oilatum shampoo when I get those oozy scabs that signal p on my scalp. I don't know what it's like for more established scalp p though.
