Hi Munsterace. Fish is fine, I've avoided all fruits because of their sugar content. As for seeds, not something I normally eat, so see how you go with and without.

Alan, you are truly sage-like to name your thread as you have. How much closer are you to being clear?

Cheers,

Bill

Clearer than a Queensland blue sky Bill. Also, I'm able to tolerate beer again which is damn good!

That is good to hear, Alan. I had pitted nails with oil drops. They are good now, but like Fred and Jim I have little ridges radiating out from the nail bed. My skin lost the itch, redness and scaling quite quickly, but it has taken years to regain a normal appearance. So I was wondering whether you still had any residue of your disease?

Cheers,

Bill

Hi Bill, all the oil drops and white gunk under the nails have gone i.e. grown out over time. Quite nice cutting nails again just because they're too long and not because I'm having to keep them pared right back. The lateral ridges have all but disappeared apart from one middle finger - but this is growing out clear over the last month, it is the only nail that shows visible signs of disease. All the cuticles have reattached as the swelling has long gone and also the half moons have reappeared at the base of the nails. The itching is thankfully long gone as well. If I'm really pushing normal eating (which I am more and more) I get a bit of tingling the next day and have had some slight flaking on a couple of fingertips as I mentioned happened after Christmas. That is now gone as well after being "good" for a few days in the new year. People I meet that don't know I had psoriasis, have no idea I had a problem because my hands look normal now. Friends and customers that saw the state of my hands before are pleasantly surprised that I'm back to normal without medication (bear in mind I work in the medical industry.) My only complaint is some redness which is a direct result of months of steroid abuse, and  I gather that this can take months to subside - to be fair it is far better now than 3 months ago and it just looks like my hands have had "a hard day at work" sometimes. Also, I notice when I get any hand injuries at work the healing time is much reduced compared to a few months ago, probably back to normal in terms of the length of time to heal. I imagine by summer, once the nails have had a chance to grow out from the base again completely, there will be no visible trace of any fingers, and the nails will be totally smooth/normal, although I'm perfectly content with how they are right now. I'll update in due course, but so far so good.

All the best,

As you can see looking fairly normal apart from the left hand middle fingernail which is a bit wonky. But it's the last nail with visible signs of disease and it's growing out normal from the base. Comparing this to 6 months ago and the change is amazing.

I've been eating normally now since Christmas. I'm finding that my food tolerances seem to be improving and that's a great feeling. Am I back to normal yet? Almost. Maybe. Time will tell but the worst is definitely behind me. My takeaway feeling from this whole experience is : perseverance, perseverance, perseverance.

Psoriasis is a particularly stubborn problem to get under control but it is achievable and my results show that I hope.

I'll spare you all pictures of my feet, only because I'm too lazy to take off my shoes and socks, but they're all clear as well.

Hope this is helpful to someone.

Alan

Great result, Alan. I hope your wonky nail clears and that is the end of it for you. But did your dietary intolerance cause your disease, or did your disease cause your dietary intolerance? I treated a moderate to severe p and psa solely with a systemic treatment and noticed a resolution of dietary intolerances as the disease improved.

Cheers,

Bill

Hi Bill. Thanks for the kind words. I think the disease (whatever that may be) causes the food intolerances. I never had any food intolerances before the psoriaisis (not that I'm aware of.)

My suspicion is that it's a fungal thing, certainly some type of dysbiosis anyway. This may have been caused in my case by a severe case of food poisoning.

I've tried to avoid all foods that cause me aggravation in the hope that this would allow my body to get back into balance. I liken it to trying not to pick at a scab while it's still healing - you'll probably end up causing more irritation and infection and prolong the healing time.

But I realise that this is not a one size fits all type problem. What has worked for me may or may not work for someone else. I'm just thankful that I've found a solution. I hope very much that my experience may be helpful to someone else reading these posts. If nothing else, I hope it shows that this thing is beatable and control of it is entirely possible.

Can't wait to get on the beach next week and get some sun and sea. Both of which seem to help with this. Also, they're quite nice ways to relax Big Grin
