Week 7 - 8 and I'm fed up.

For the past couple of weeks the psoriatic arthritis has been getting worse, and because of that I'm now getting a flare up of psoriasis too.

It's been unusually damp here for the time of year so I'm thinking it's because of that. The Stelara never was so good when it's damp, and it has got me thinking that is why some people say it doesn't help psoriatic arthritis much. If you live in a damp area it's not going to work so well as it does in a dry area. So for example Dave on Stelara live in the North of the UK and often says it doesn't work so well for him as it does for me in the Middle of France, obviously we are all different but I'm comparing with Dave as we are both on 90mg.

Ok lets get this done. Scores!

Psoriasis score: Up from 3 to 9

Psoriatic arthritis score: Up from 4 to 18

No sympathy then Fred Confused perhaps it's time to move away from Stelsra which I know has been good to you for years, but there are other drugs now which seem to outperform Stelara, like Cosentyx ....just thinking out loud

Zip .......no I will sympathise though and hope the weather changes and you get to feel better Big Grin

Yes we have spoken about Cosentyx and that is my next move, but at the last check it's still not available. I was hoping to keep going on Stelara and make the change nearer the winter when I will need it most.

But whatever happens I can't do anything for another month, so yes hopeful the damp will go away.

This time ,for me, the Stelara has not been as good as it's tending to tail off around week 8 and I am getting a few more patches this time . It never has worked that well for me on the PsA and at the moment I am having to take a larger dose of Tramadol to compensate .
My next delivery is on this Friday to take sometime over the weekend so I am hoping that it kicks in and sorts the patches out but as Fred say's it never has worked well for me and where I live the cold and damp has been as big feature this year with the cold damp wind straight off the sea.
Are you taking more painkillers Fred like me or are you putting up with it, all the work you are doing in the garden will not help at all, I cleared one of the cupboards out the other day and I could hardly move next day.
What score I am on I don't really know as I have always had difficulty assessing myself , the mention of Cosentyx is interesting as when I made my last dermatology visit he told me that he had just started using it.
I don't think that I am as bad as you Fred but I am careful what physical work I do and the extra driving I have been doing when Clare was in hospital is still giving me problems with my joints . I don't know how you do all the gardening that you do Fred it would kill me off.

Hello Dave, no I don't take anything for the pain (though Merlot does help). Last year I used Tramadol and even some sleeping pills, but I decided enough was enough and I just have to get on with it.

I'm a stubborn old sod and once I put my mind to something I just have to stick with my decision. It doesn't always work and as you know I even had to resort to Poison Methotrexate last year, but that soon got dumped once I remembered how bad it was.

I think you are right about overdoing it, but I still like to push myself hard sometimes if not I will just fester. It does get harder the older I get and I do forget I'm not capable of doing some stuff, but as my Mum still to this day reminds me that I always said "I would never get past 30" I have got this far and now I want to go a bit further.

I will get through it Dave, it's been worse. It's just at the moment it's a bit stronger than me, so I'm going to rest up whilst it's damp and come back fighting harder than before.

Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

That is what they call a conspiracy theory, but in my eyes it is just mentioning a very obvious and possible different option.
Yes, I think there are a lot of Doctors who really want to cure their patients......

Yes Fred I agree I can't do with all the conspiracy theories most are put together by persons who have a lot of time on their hands .

But they are fun Dave.  Wink

Some of them demonstrate just how stupid their mind works Fred , I do agree though some of the theories are incredible and it does make you wonder just how intelligent they are .

A conspiracy theory is nothing more than another, mostly possible, view on the reality.
Regular "other" theories are often called "conspiracy theories", by e.g. government, just to immediately place the story in a certain corner.
Other theories can be very valuable. E.g. the twin towers, the lower tower next to the twin towers was not hit, was farther away from other buildings that stayed up, still it suddenly went down in seconds like a structured demolition. According to about 7000 construction engineers this is not possible.
By placing this in the conspiracy theory corner the government blocks broader investigations.

On topic:
My PSA is worse also.
The driving days on the motorcycle are not easy. Pain in my hands and my right big toe hurts.

If you had the weight of the twin towers suddenly crash at side of the building then it's not going to survive at all according to 20,000 engineer's.

Anyway the damp weather does not make it better. And it is damp all over, with you in France, but also where I am in Germany and at home in Holland.
You can feel that.

I don't think I would be able to cope with somewhere like Holland or the UK come to that, I imagine Holland being damp but the UK is a lot damper than here.

I want my dried up lawn back. Angry

You are right about he uk being damp, not ideal for arthritis

I can't understand the weather patterns at the moment, we are being promised 30+ degrees next week, so surely if we get dry weather you should in central France Confused
