Sorry to hear that TL.

I haven't had much luck with biologics so far myself.

I don't understand how some treatments work for some and not others. It seems like if it works it should work for almost everyone in the same way. But it just doesn't seem to work that way. Goes back to us all being different I suppose.

Yep and that is why psoriasis is so difficult to treat, I've been great on one treatment and then it will fail or even end up putting me in hospital. Some do well for a very long time, some fail from day one there still is no one suit fits all and i doubt there ever will be.

I also doubt there will be one overall solution. But that is more because the pharma keeps on going in the direction of suppression and inhibition of parts of the immune system.
There is very little research towards the real cause of Psoriasis. If we knew the real cause, one could try to find something that would reduce the influence of that cause.
But I fear that is far in the future, if it ever comes sofar.

Pharma doesn't want a cure and even if they did there isn't a cure as it effects us all in different ways, I bet there isn't two members of Psoriasis Club that suffers the same let alone around the world.

Cure actually has different meanings. In the medical field I guess it can mean "to make someone with an illness healthy again" and also "Cured of a disease and it won't come back" which is not the same thing as the first one. And Mr Webster simply puts it as "recovery or relief from a disease" which is basically the same as the two meshed together.

I've heard some people say they were "cured" and the disease returned. It's possible it was only in remission or perhaps it did just come back.

I never really thought that much about it until getting psoriasis. There were so many "cures" out there!!!! Of course they were scams and luckily I found myself here before falling for them. Thumb

To me a cure means it is gone... not coming back (of course it's impossible to predict that one in some cases)

If a cause were known for these diseases, perhaps a focus would be toward preventing them in the first place.

Yes… that might be possible, but… then you will have to have an indication that you might get it. If it is strongly seen in the family than that may be an advantage. But we also know that anyone could get it.

I know of a question list that was sent out by a known dermatologist in the Amsterdam UMC, where she tried to find out if people with psoriasis would be willing to preventively take medication to prevent Psoriatic Arthritis. Don’t know the results of that questionlist yet.

Personally I would hope that if the cause was known, that we could try to interfere with the cause directly with very specific medication to solve the problem at its source.
Just like they are trying to do with some cancer medications, known as the Car-T method.
