I do believe there are lots of natural things that can help with psoriasis. but please be careful of all the Scams out there that will only make you bank balance shrink!

I'm not saying the natural approach doesn't work and I wouldn't. I just cant keep to a regime, so it wouldn't be fair of me to comment. I just want to warn people to be careful.

I have done some research about the natural approach and came to the conclusion it's all about Positive Attitude, Sun, and Diet. I don't do to bad on the positive attitude or the sunshine but the diet! I have to admit I just can't do it.

During my research I found out the following foods are supposed to be bad for Psoriasis.

Saturated Fats: Beef, Pork, Veal, Sausage, Salami, Burgers, Margarine, Etc.
Nightshades: Tomatoes, Tobacco, Peppers, Potatoes, Chilli, Etc.
Shellfish: Lobster,Shrimp, Prawn, Crab, Etc.
And: Coffee, Gluten, Yeast, Fried Food, Pizza, Vinegar, Pickles, Spices, Strawberries, Peanut Butter, And Alcohol.

And the ideal diet for Psoriasis would be.
7 Glasses of water.
80% of the following:
Fruit, But no strawberry's or citrus.
Vegetables: 3 that grow above ground and one that grows below ground.
Juices: some people swear by Juices. I'm sure if you do a google search you will find some.
20% of the following:
Grain, Rice, Pasta.
Oily Fish, White Fish.
Poultry, But no skin.
Lamb.
Skimmed Milk, Yoghurt,
Others include Olive Oil, Light Tea, 2 Eggs per week.

I wish you all well on your search for the natural approach and have a huge respect for those of you that do manage to achieve it. Please share with others your natural approach as I'm sure there are lots of people who would rather take this route.

But please be careful of the scams! You will find lots of so called cures for psoriasis on the Internet. Don't Fall For It you will be wasting your money on nothing more than a diet and life style approach. Do a Google search for "psoriasis affiliate programs" instead and see how much people are making with claims like: I cured psoriasis find out how / Cure for psoriasis / Dr X reveals the secrets on curing psoriasis / Professors Predicted I Would Die With Psoriasis.

The natural approach to Psoriasis which I have found quite helpful, but it's taken a long, very long time to get to where I am right now.

I've been using tea tree oil, Shea butter unrefined, African soap, patchouli oil, Shea oil, virgin olive oil, Vaseline, sea salt, Eucerin lotion, Nivea Lotion (almond oil/sea minerals), brown rice, non starched flour, apple cider vineger and bleach. All of this separate sounds crazy of course. I was diagonsed in 2007 with severe psoriasis after falling down steps at work, nerve damage and torn rota tor cup. Taking pills, damaging body causes all types of stress to your body and let's not forget lowering immune system AngryAngry which leaves you open to this dread disease. 80% of my body including scalp and other places you wouldn't believe, oh all over feet, omg it's awful. But right now no more painful red plaques, not a lot of silver scales and so forth. Most of this is contributed to natural ingredients.
I take my hat off to all of you who have dealt with this dreaded disease for much longer.
Yes I've done the typical meds doctors give with some decent results but then when you get laid off you have no insurance and paying 100 plus on meds isn't something you can do, so you look for alternatives. I will share how all of the ingredient's above have helped me to almost normal looking skin though splotches on skin. I don't know how I'll fair this winter since psoriasis and the psoriatic arthritis doesn't like the cold. Trust me I researched everything before trying any of this and if anyone decided to try any of this I share with you be sure to do your own research.

Wow, these posts are really helpful as I do see lots of 'click here for a magic cure for psoriasis' as I browse the web and am often tempted but have the forsight to know it's most likely a scam.

This breakdown of foods good/bad for psoriasis is great though and definitely food for thought! *cringes at the pun!* I do love my food though so I'm not sure I'd be able to live without refined sugar and bacon etc! That said perhaps eliminating some of the things on the list will help a bit...but not today, as I've just ordered a kebab for dinner! lol

Great post though, thanks so much for sifting through what was no doubt copious amounts of gumpf to bring it to the forum.

Thanks!

I read that Tea Tree Oil should not be used on Psoriasis as it could make it worse...Same thing with Vaseline, which has petroleum in it...confused. Huh

Example of one of the Dutch scam sites.

It is soo transparent that this is a scam, that you cannot believe that people really order this book. If one searches the internet, several complaints can be found, no success stories.

I used to drink alot and thought that may have been related but i quit 15 years ago.No way to pinpoint origin of mine but started when i was about 30.
Tried some creams but were so greasy it would mess up keyboard or id be told to wear latex gloves.Did that for two days and after 1000 dr jellyfinger jokes and sweating so bad water would fill the gloves i gave it up.
Natural would be good but i do think causation is a combination of things.
