I have a cold for the fist time since on immune suppressants.
My friend was on oral treatment and was told to just stop taking the tablets until its cleared.
I am on Ilumetri which is taken every 3 months. So stopping it isnt possible.
How does it effect my body fighting the cold? Does it just take longer than normal?

Duncan

I have never found it any harder to fight a cold or flu than Mrs Fred from my long time on Bio's.

I'm also on Ilumetri and have not experienced any problems, but I haven't had to fight a cold. I would say it will run it's course as normal and do what you normally would with a cold.

Drink plenty of fluids, and take some paracetamol. But f it gets worse after a week rather than clearing up then contact your GP or dermatologist.

I agree with Fred it will run its course and it should be no worse than anyone not on immune suppressing drugs.
There are a lot of very bad cold viruses about at the moment and from what I've heard they are taking a while to get over

I've used Humira injection every other week for 14 years, now, and have continued taking it even when experiencing a cold.  If it should take a wrong turn, if it worsens, get medical help.  Likely, though, you'll be okay.  A doctor once told me that they are not suppressing your immune system so drastically that you cannot still fight infections.

Keep washing your hands when you come home and before you eat.  Avoid walking through someone's sneeze or cough.  Eat healthy.  Exercise and sleep well.  All that.  Can't hurt.  Should help.

But you know what?  I get it.  I really do.  It's scary to take these big medicines.  Some of them have dreadful warnings, too.  But they also give folks their lives back, quiet their disease.
