Hi all

Looking for some advice please.
I'm recently diagnosed with psoriasis.. I'm experiencing swelling of my legs mainly where's the bigger patches are, and my feet. I do have hypertension and I'm on losartan and a diuretic. My doc said my blood pressure meds is not the cause of the swelling as the class of drugs it is, it shouldn't give me that side effect.  Doc said it's the inflammation of the psoriasis? Not sure please help.

Hi again I did answer in your intro but I'll answer a bit more here

I've not heard of swelling to do with psoriasis but it could be ....but haven't read of others mentioning it and I tend to read all posts here. but it could any number of things, But I would think it doesn't help having long periods standing
My best advice is first take breaks and walk or move your legs by walking on the spot if your work involves standing all day.
Then when you can sit or lie down and elevate your feet to encourage the fluid to migrate back into your body for your kidneys to deal with.
Get rest with feet elevated
See your doctor if it doesn't go away and ask to change the losartan as it may be responsible and the only sure way to find out is to switch

There is an incidence of swelling when you have Psoriatic Arthritis.
Then it may be that your tendons start swelling a bit, but also your joints can be swelling because of the inflammation of the joints.
Those are the only references that I have with swelling and Psoriasis/Psoriatic Arthritis

But in the case of the Psoriatic Arthritis you would certainly feel the inflammation and you are saying nothing about pain.

You could ask your doctor for an anti inflammatory medicine. Also compression socks can help with leg swelling. You can get them fitted by a doctor or purchase the over the counter kind at stores or online. I know that's not an explanation as to what's going on (hopefully your doctor can help answer that) but it's a couple of ideas to help manage. Jim gave some good advice also on managing the swelling. Good luck!

Doesn't losartan help to produce more urine which helps your body get rid of extra salt and water , is this where the water is going to ?
Never had any problems with any leg swelling with P .

I take Losartan/HCTZ (which is Hydrochlorothiazide, a diuretic) but you can get Losartan without the HCTZ.
