William Mateychuck is Canadian isn't he Fred? As challenging as my treatment has been, and I am always in hope that it will get much simpler, at least I do not have the annoyances of bureaucracy.

Just had a look: USA.

<Because the drug is not FDA Approved, importing into the USA is a problem requiring strict paper-work regimen to diminish the risk of confiscation. >

You can say... a lot of reading... Smile.
In Europe currently there is a new version of DMF, called Skilarence, which is certified.
This version is stomach resistant, which means that it will pass your stomach, and will be released in the intestines.
That is smart, because you do not want pure DMF in your stomach. I admire Bill on this.

But.... it is not a really smart medication, the producer (a Spanish firm) made a stupid mistake.

Why?
Well, DMF is also irritating for your intestines. So you can imagine what happens when the pills that have passed your stomach are releasing their content in your intestines, that is very inconvenient, doable but inconvenient.

In the Netherlands a long time ago this has been foreseen (Dutch are smart and often also stupid)  and a specific drugstore made a pill that has a slow release of DMF (or controlled release). That medication has the same dose, but was not certified but still magistrate prepared, just like the drugstores always have done. They have a machine for it, so it is a very controlled production.
It has been produced for about I guess thirty years, and used by many Psoriasis and Psoriactic Arthritis sufferers.

The advantage of slow release is obvious. It means that the DMF release is slow and spreaded over your whole intestinal tract, thus having much less impact on the point of side effects than the not slow release.
It is therefore my opinion that the Spanish company has made a stupid decision by just making an "easy" pill, which is less good than an already existing excellent medication, while they easily could have made a slow release version. They did not do their homework, while there is 30 years of proof available. So...plain stupid.

The Dutch slow release version, called Psorinovo, is still being produced and can be ordered in the Netherlands. (Ask Caroline in a PM if you want to know more  Smile ).

@Bill, I am not restarting as there is currently hardly any need for doing that. @imapsomom if you wanna know why, read my Journal.  Big Grin

Interesting Caroline! I will PM you Smile
The Dutch seem to be so advanced with Psoriasis treatment! We are members of the EU as we have French Passports, maybe we will move to Amsterdam!
