Thanks for the reply KrPrincess.
Small update, what i thought/was told to be psoriasis on my feet, is going.... I now have a feeling i know what it is, the soles of my feet were pretty tough, especially since i trained barefoot about 15 hours a week, and they just got really dry and started flaking, peeling, and breaking in the skin. What i've been doing since last week is applying a steroid(dovobet or betnovate) and placing them in occlusion, washing them the next morning with a stone, and applying foot cream with urea, and the difference between last friday at the doctor, and today, is night and day, while they still aren't perfect, at least now i can see them improving so i'll continue working with them. Going to go back training next Monday, to see if i can help it clear my head, but i'm still kind of worried about sweating so heavily while wearing training gear, and also being covered in other peoples sweat is really worrying me about infection.

Another small update: dermatologist called today to see how I was doing.
Told him I wasn’t great, getting flare ups and things like that. He said he’s sending out my prescription today for stelara, I just have to sit on it until he rings me to confirm my quantiferon test is clear. I’m planning on dropping it straight in to the chemist when it arrives, and as soon as he rings me, going in to collect it and start the treatment.

I hope you get along well. I had my first shot three weeks ago. No results yet but still hopeful.

I have been told not to expect any improvement for around 4-6 months. Some people here have had fantastic results in a matter of weeks tho, apparently once it triggers a clearance it just happens then and it’s gone?

Until this summer he was training also about 15 hrs a week, and doing national and international tournaments (off topic maybe) but had to take a break most of this summer due to both an accident and before that due to his feet peeling. It doesn't look like P on his feet, no redness or scaling, bubbles or patchyness, they just literally peel off; thin layers or spots peel a little if he is doing light training but when he was doing intense training camps in May and June his entire calluses were peeling off...it almost sounds the opposite of what you are experiencing but for the first time I am wondering if it is psoriasis. Hope not, that would be extra crushing.

Martial arts are the best thing I ever done in my life(apart from marrying my lovely wife).
What ever you do don’t let him give it up. A little break at the moment while he’s getting sorted out, but make sure he gets back on the mats. Mine are peeling quite badly at the moment, my GP seemed to think it was palmo plantar pustulosis, which is a form of psoriasis, but wrapping them in steroid cream at night and using a urea based foot cream seems to be helping at the moment, i’ve only been doing it for a week, but it’s made quite a difference. Wouldn’t recommend it long term, obviously due to steroids making the skin thin. I will keep updating here as my treatment progresses.

I agree, we are a whole martial arts family, until my recent Psoriasis obsession took over I was 100% martial arts mom. I hope we all can get back there as it was a great place to be. Back to light training Saturday with fingers crossed. I looked up palmo plantar pustulosis and I doubt it's the same thing. Looks more like his feet got really sweaty and rubbed layers of skin off....but to a serious extreme. Anyway, good luck with the Stelera and I hope your training progresses with no more issues holding you back! |
