In the last year my ps has developed much thicker dead skin over the plaques. Or maybe the dead skin is the plaque... Either way, I am looking for a good way to remove the dead skin. I have a home UVB unit, and the light is useless as it won't penetrate through the dead skin. I have been using lanolin in a tube for nursing mothers. It helps but really doesn't do the job. I also use argon oil to moisturize my face and my hands. Real genuine argon oil is expensive so I cannot use it all over, plus it really won't remove the dead skin.

Is there anything that dissolves the dead skin?

What do you use?

Thanks

As you have posted this in Natural I take it you don't want to use a topical ? But something like a short dose of Dovonex could help get rid of the plaques.

But if you want to stick to natural how about:

#1 Coconut Oil

#2 Epsom salt

#3 50/50 mix of Olive and Peanut oil

#4 Vaseline

Hopefully others will have some natural recommendations for you, but it's difficult going that way in my opinion.

Hi Fred. Sometimes with the lanolin the skin peels off. I was hoping for that but better.

You could crush up some aspirin and mix it with petroleum jelly (1-2% by weight). I think that salicylic acid is the skin softening agent in many commercial products.

Thanks. Maybe aloe vera jell would be healthier than petrolium jelly...

As long as it combines well I guess. Have a look at the commercial formulations as this would indicate what works.

Urea also seems to help with scaling and is easy to get. There are a lot of body lotions and creams with urea. It is also a great moisturizer.

Maybe soaking for a long time, then gently rubbing it away. Also that branded heel balm is good for softening up hard skin on feet so potentially it could work? I think it contains urea, maybe that's the softening agent?

I forgot to mention Wheat Starch. The gave me baths with loads of that in once, it made this skin very soft and helped remove the flakes.
