Hi,
I'm Paul 64 and plagued by Psoriasis. Elbows Knees and back, and the cheeks of my bum!
Been using Dovobet but it's very temporary. Would like to go swimming more but not like this.
Keep scratching and make the sheets look like a bloodbath.

Any hints welcome.

Paul

Hello Paul Welcome to Psoriasis Club.

Are you seeing a dermatologist? And how long have you had psoriasis?

Regards.

Fred.

Welcome Paul!

There are many treatments for psoriasis. Natural, ointments, light therapy, oral meds, biologics, etc and there is a lot of info here on all of those. Smile

For me, light therapy and oral meds worked although I do still have issues with scalp psoriasis.

Hi Paul great that you have found us  Welcome to a unique psoriasis site. The site is truly independent and run by a sufferer for sufferers to meet and talk about our treatments and feelings without any outside influences, you dive in, you will find us a very friendly welcoming group

Psoriasis is a difficult unpleasant disease to control, but there are many of us here that have it under control, not cured but controlled....
Are you seeing a dermatologist.  If not you should and tell them that the steriod cream is failing you, and you need a better treatment.... You can find them all here, Prescribed Treatments For Psoriasis read about them and then come and ask questions if you have any ....
I hope you will enjoy the forum and gain plenty of information to ask your doctor or dermatologist when you next see them

But I can assure you there is a treatment that will work for you, it's not always easy finding it though....I have been  clear the last 5 years on my treatment and will be 70 this year and am enjoying great times on the beach with my grandchildren and no longer worry about showing my skin

A great way to stay in touch with the forum is to subscribe to our free monthly newsletter you can sign up by Groups

Hi Paul and welcome to the Club Wave
Elbows and knees are Psoriasis' favorite home. And I know what you mean about the bloodbath thing.
Be careful with the Dovobet it should only be used for a very short time (several weeks, I forget how many, dovobet and I were never really good friends) and on a limited total area.
If this was proscribed by your GP, I would be asking for a referral to a Dermatologist and the sooner the better. It is not a disease that can be effectively managed without the intervention of the Pro's
Ask questions or have a moan we are a small bunch of friendly sufferers.
Don't forget there is the healthy Off topic area for non Ps chat.

Hi Paul . Welcome to the club, this is the most friendly place you will find and there is the information on here which is second to none on P and PsA. The inmates are barmy for the most of them but we are all in the same boat so any questions you ask will be answered by people who have the problem so you will get truthful answers to all your questions.
It sounds to me that you are seeing the GP and not a dermatologist so you really need to see the specialist in the field, if you are already seeing the derm then I would try to find one who knows what he /she is doing as it sounds that you are not getting the care that you deserve.
Have a good look around as there is information on every treatment with personal information on results/side effects etc . Just bear in mind though that everyone is different and what works for one or the side effects that sometimes others get will not be necessarily the same for yourself.
All the best Dave
