The purpose of this journal is not to add new information but to tidy up my posts which are spread around the forum. This will enable me or anyone who may be interested to locate my posts that are relevant to me and my health.

Jims Fumaderm and hormone treatment

A bit about me

I am 66  and live in Norwich United Kingdom.
Married 45 Years with 2 married daughters and 4 grandchildren (I can't afford any more) but they refuse to let me get old gracefully.

I run a small sales and service business which covers East Anglia

My world crashed around me when I was 17 and diagnosed with Psoriasis. I was very outgoing until then, I have spent most of my life apart from periods of remission since then trying to keep myself covered up, never wearing dark clothes, for fear of a snowstorm from my scalp, I was always in long sleeves. And very self conscious I would long for the sun to come out to help clear my skin which it did very well  I would then find a quiet beach to get my first few doses of u.v

I joined the forum on the 1 October 2013 having never been on a forum before, and found this format fairly straightforward and posted my introduction
Introduction Jiml
I was so surprised at the speed and friendliness of the responses I got, and the good advice and support from members.

I joined the forum to see if anyone could advise on whether there was any reason to stop my current psoriasis treatment (Fumaderm) as I had been diagnosed with prostate cancer and put on hormone tablets and injections
See Fumaderm and hormone injections
After the advice I got on here I returned to see my dermatologist and we discussed whether to continue
See post RE: Fumaderm and hormone injections

I found that I was learning more about my psoriasis in a couple of months on the forum than I had learnt in all my previous years, I somehow felt at home here, if I was feeling depressed about my problems there was a sympathetic ear not far away to chat with.
I found myself responding to others who also had problems, which I could relate to. What a shame I didn't know about this site earlier.
(Then I found the OFF TOPIC Section and posted a couple of jokes there) Then
On 12 December 2013 i had a telephone conversation with my dermatologist followed by a letter regarding my treatment I wrote

13 December 2013 had hospital appointment with the dermatologist to see if they could reduce my Fumaderm after a lively discussion RE: Fumaderm and hormone injections it was decided to leave well alone until after my radiotherapy was over

As I was working a few days ago, I got a stark reminder of my earlier times with psoriasis, when I knocked my leg on a tree in the garden and cut it. ( not a bad cut) but it reminded me of the times I was using steroid ointments and they thinned my skin quite a lot. I would add it was probably misuse by me that caused it as I was told to just put the creams on the actual plaques which, when you are fairly well covered in plaques is very difficult, I used to smear it on and quite often it was rubbed into surrounding areas causing my problems.
I am glad to say my skin has recovered to a large extent although I am still very careful even now

See Post Have steroid ointments thinned your skin

GREAT DAY for me today had along wait at the hospital to see my oncologist and braced for the worst I was given the news that my prostate cancer appeared to be under control.
Unless you have been through it you can not imagine the emotions that flood through your body.......

Anyway the point is you are all going to have to suffer me for a long while yet

I have posted a bit here RE: Fumaderm and hormone injections

11 APRIL 2014

just a brief update today. Had good appointment with dermatologist today and although I didn't want to reduce my daily dose of Fumaderm. I was persuaded that it would be prudent to reduce not stop the treatment.
Having accepted that it was the right thing for my circumstance I posted
RE: Fumaderm and hormone injections

I just hope the psoriasis will stay under control on the reduced dose. I certainly don't want to go back to potions and lotions.
Early days yet,........... funny thing is now I want to have blood tests.

As my psoriasis is still clear I thought I should update my journal with the fact the only bit of psoriasis I have to show is my slightly split thumb nail, which no matter what I do it just won't go away, so I have photographed it and posted a description here

RE: Nails

I used to suffer extremely thick toenails but they have responded to the Fumaderm treatment and are normal thickness now
